View Full Version : Strange "Creature" Is Very Odd Indeed
I always thought the so called "Montauk Monster" was just a dead dog or raccoon, but this friggin thing is way weird. It's supposed to be a "creature" from Panama and the story is reported by CNN.
I thought it could be a hoax, but they do mention that it has been looked at by zoologists and they are uncertain what it is. I have to assume that rules a hoax out? Did the zoologists see it in person?
Anyone want to take a shot at what it might be? ET is the first thing that comes to my mind, just with a smaller head. What type of animal could resemble that, even dead?

No, but it does look like it could be his body after all, doesn't it?
Coming out of a cave huh? Maybe the things from the movie Descent. But, probably a sloth or something.

<offTopic>Was that a good movie? Is it worth renting?</offTopic>
I read that this was debunked as either a shaved sloth, or a hairless sloth. But it's basically just a sloth. Or an alien.

I thought it was pretty good. The women in it were all good actors (IMO) and the monsters were pretty creepy. It did well enough that Part 2 is being released soon.

Yea I liked it. Could probably make claustrophobic people uneasy.

I love it, finally a story that CCN can really sink their teeth into. Who was it that said something about a sucker being born every minute hour day whatever.

My ex-mother in-law!
Nah, I didn't really mean that.
That creature is better-looking. And slimmer.
Thinking it is somehow a totally hairless but not fully decomposed sloth as well.
Still, finding that laying on the creek bed is enough to fu*k with anyones rationale.

ETA: Notice the nose on the sloth. To be a hairless sloth, it would, presumably, have to be a hairless albino sloth; probably quite rare, unless the teens found an albino sloth, and then showered it in NairŪ.
Either that or something got out of Plum Island.
The 'hook' claws give it away. It's a sloth.
And with that my interest in ever owning a pet sloth just went down the tubes. Friggin nasty when hairless.

The creature in the photo appears to only have 2 nipples like humans, apes and monkeys do. Don't lower mammels have rows of nipples like a cat?

Mammals generally have an even number of nipples, that total twice the number if the species average litter - humans develop with more than two nipples (generally), but the number normally reduces as the fetus fully develops.
i STILL cant get the stupid CNN video to play

Thanks - that makes sense. If this site is correct, sloths only have one baby at a time: http://www.warner.redclay.k12.de.us/sloths.htm

Who knows, there are so many strange things and creatures out there. Many stories many sightings of various things. Until someone actually captures one alive, they will continue to be folklore.
I am sure though that there are many animals we have yet to discover on this planet.
These are pics of the alternate ending for the movie ET. This is where the kids get pissed at him for eating all the reeses pieces, and then beat the hell out of him with sticks and rocks.

Could be the fetus of a sloth or one that was still born. The claws do appear to give it away though. IMO
If you go to this site you can see a better pic.
