I'm tired of cleaning!!:mad::mad:.com/images/smilies/icon_smile_angry.gif[/img] I'd like to make my 10.5" SBR a lot easier to clean. I haven't had any reliability issues with my 10.5 LMT, but I could really do without all the cleaning. I'm considering an Adams Arms conversion w/ one-piece bolt carrier. Anybody do an Adams Arms conversion on an LMT? Should I anticipate any problems with the bolt on gas block?
Please, no piston flames.

Umm, unless your 10.5" has a Mid-length gas system, where are you going to be sticking that ginormous gas block?

ETA: And where did you get the idea that pistons don't require cleaning?

So clean every 1000 rounds. ARs do not need to be clean to run, just make sure they are lubed.

Cleaning is over rated. Wet and dirty runs, dry and clean or dirty doesn't. I've run my 10" SBR past 5800 rounds suppressed before cleaning. Just adding oil ever few hundred rounds. Despite popular myth the AR doesn't need to be really clean to work.

Will do. Got a link?

I know pistons need cleaning, too. But, my Sig 556 doesn't need nearly as much elbow grease as my ARs.

The current FSB/Gasblock would be removed and replaced by the AA gasblock. Would that not work on the LMT 10.5" barrel? I'd put a carbine length Omega rail on (compatable w/ AA system).

Cool reviews. So, Are you suggesting I get the LMT 12" Piston? I already have the 10.5". I want to stick with that length (uh-oh...here comes the 10.5" LWRC suggestions...along with more (not necessarily unwarranted) piston-hating comments:D).

You clean your 10.5" ?

I might should try that some day. I'll put it on my "bucket list"...

Seriously, though, the times I clean mine are few and far between. Like GotM4, I just lube it. I may occasionally wipe the bolt and carrier off with an old rag, but that's about it.

Is the AA system adjustable? I wouldn't think there would be any more issues with the 10.5 than with any other carbine length system.

Absolutely not. We are a dealer for them and have 5 weapons with more than 123K+ rounds through them. From 7.5" up 20" and in multiple calibers. If you need any direct help with any questions just ask.

Fighter,
Your answers will be most appreciated:

1) How's Accuracy. Yes, it's just a 10.5" that I've got, but I do pretty darn well with it out to 200 yds.

2) How's the weight. Is the gas block super heavy?

3) Any problems installing on an LMT 10.5" barrel?

4) Do I need to use a H or H2 Buffer?

5) Standard carbine buffer spring OK?

Thanks

Fighter,
Your answers will be most appreciated:

1) How's Accuracy. Yes, it's just a 10.5" that I've got, but I do pretty darn well with it out to 200 yds. My T1 is set up for 100yds, at 300yds my target is just under my point of aim.

2) How's the weight. Is the gas block super heavy? Negative. 9oz difference.

3) Any problems installing on an LMT 10.5" barrel? Negative. Its still a carbine length so it will be fine. They offer them in different length gas systems.

4) Do I need to use a H or H2 Buffer? Depends, it could use any of them. Its like an engine, it just needs to be tuned.

5) Standard carbine buffer spring OK? Roger, GTG..

Thanks

The unit below how you see it weighs 6lb 7oz with empty mag. Unit has since been upgraded to a T1 Micro.

Gunfighter,
You didn't have to open up the gas port any, did you?

Sweet. I just ordered their one piece Bolt Carrier from AA (waited for their group buy sale). Can't wait to put it all together on my LMT SBR!! Got a DD Lite rail goin' on it, too.
