View Full Version : Trust / Approval without items
Can I go ahead and setup a Trust and get all prior approval without purchasing anything? I will want to get a suppressor at the end of the year, and build a SBR early next.
you can set up the trust, but all of the ATF approvals are on an item-specific basis, right down to the serial number of the item.
Sounds good. Thanks Rob_S!

I'm about to do this too. So does the serial number of the suppressor have to be in the trust or can that be added after the supprressor is transferred to the trust?
As far as I know (which isn't much) all I have to send the ATF is the Declaration of Trust, which doesn't include anything owned by the trust.
My head's spinning already.
Ya'll should pick up the March copy of Small Arms Review, as there is an article in there written by the attorney/class III dealer that set up my trust. This article will answer alot of your questions and be a good resource to have later on.
The trust is set up as a legal entity. The trust itself does not list what items are in the trust. You set up the trust, and then you transfer items from your dealer to the trust.

Is Small Arms Review carried by any of the bigger chain bookstores, like Barnes & Noble or Borders?
I'd like to find a copy available locally.

It's been a few months since I've been there, but I recall seeing copies of the Small Arms Review at the B&N at Merchant's Square in Williamsburg.

Barnes and Noble is one of the few places I've found SAR. I'm gonna need a copy of that issue...
In North Idaho, SAR is at the grocery store. I don't usually buy gun porn, but this time I'll pick it up for the articles. :D
