I am trying to talk myself into trying an M3L and want to know, from those who actually have one or have had one... can you hit pop can size targets at 100 yards or further?

I would like to know if you can.. and if so, do you have 2MOA or 4MOA dot??

I want to have one on my new 16" build but I want to make sure it is capable of decent accuracy at up to 200 yards. I hoped to be able to hit coffee can size stuff with no problem at all at 200 yards!! I can with Irons.... so can it be done with the aimpoints?

Thanks!

Jon

The 4MOA dot actually suspends about 8" at 100 yds. Meaning that it will completely cover a pop can. So, a pop can sitting on a stump will dissappear behind the dot.

However, on a IDPA target, I can shoot MOPC (minute of pop can). It has to do with reference points.

The 2MOA dot would be and improvment.

Say what? 4MOA is 4" at 100 yards last I checked.

I can hit 8" round plates at around 200-250 yds with my 4 moa ML2 (even ones that some sick demented instructor painted RED just to screw with Aimpoint guys....). Should be even easier with my 2moa ML3.
Coke cans at 100 should be doable in the right hands.

If you are going the ML3 route, you might consider this thread:

I have the ML3 with the 2 min dot on one of my 16" lightweights, yes I can hit pop can sized targets at 100 yards. I shoot called coyotes with mine and have no problem (that I wouldn't have with any other sight) hitting them whether they're running towards me or away from me. When the range extends I do prefer a magnified optic like a 3.5-10.

I have the ML3 2 MOA on a Stag upper and can make Very short work of a few clays on a 100yd berm. At 200yds prone Azone IPSC target hits are no problem. I use the 50yd POA/POI sight in. Since I went to a dot it has been like cheating... Fast and easy. Harold H.
