I just made my last decision and ordered my last part (except for a light mount). Here's what my first AR will be when I snap it all together next week:

Stag lower receiver
Stag/CMT lower parts
Bravo Company mil-spec extension
Bravo Company charging handle
Magpul MOE stock (FDE)
Magpul MOE grip (FDE)
Magpul MOE handguard (FDE)
Magpul rear MBUS (FDE)
Bravo Company standard 16" upper receiver group
Bravo Company bolt carrier group
Surefire G2
?? mount for G2 ??
I'm still looking at optics options and thinking about a 6.8 upper at some point for certain kinds of hunting. I'm also keeping a standard grip, stock, and handguard around for my son to mess with so he can decide what he likes after he deploys. Maybe a Tango grip too, just to feel several possibilities.

How'd I do?

Parts seem good to go.
Since you're using a G2, you could consider the VTAC offset mount? They're lightweight, and they won't break the bank account. I'm running a VTAC mount with my G2 on it, and it's still running strong.

I'll check out the VTAC. Thanks.

For optic options check out Laruetactical.com they have pretty good deals on optics with their mounts on them...I look forward to seeing some pics. What are your sling options going to be?

What are your sling options going to be?I have no idea. I don't know enough about either the platform in general or what I'll be doing with it to be able to think about a sling. Coyote hunting truck tool. Practice carbine for my delayed entry USMC son. Testosterone plinker. House clearing zombie getter. Protest against creeping statism. I guess I'll think about slings when I settle on what this rig is . . . for. Is there a universal sling for all of the above?

EMDOM Gunslinger Sling
Can be used as a one point or two point, similar to the Magpul MS2 but with a wider strap.

Mr. Bryant, that is one nice looking build. I am glad your posted pics, because I will be assembling my rifle sometime in the next week (hopefully, if I get the time). I also bought the Magpul MOE hand guard and Stock for my build. I'm glad to see how my rifle will look before I build it.

One question, have you thought at all about a sling? The reason I ask is that I was going to use the Specter Gear SOP Sling on my build. However, the folks at Specter Gear say that their SOP Sling will not fit on the MOE stock. I am just looking for ideas on what people are using for a slig when using an MOE Stock.

ETA; Diregard the question about the sling. I should have read the entire post more carefully. I see that that question had been already answered.

That is a great looking rifle. How sturdy do the MOE handguards feel ? I was thinking about those with a VFG one day but am worried about wobble.

I like that a lot, those hand guards are really growing on me.

I just put a set of those hand guards on my AR and there is no wobble.

I just got my EMDOM gunslinger this evening in fact. Wow, nice sling for the money, outstanding I'd say. I got a mash hook for the rear and an HK hook for the front (both with elastic protectors). The sling is high quality and light. It converts from a 2 to a one pt sling in seconds. If you are using the sling slot on the stock and have a std sling mount on the front you are gtg with no additional hooks. That is one of the nice things about the sling, you can pick the attachment methods for your setup.

My son and I were planning to go out to the woods tomorrow and spend some time finding a good zero for this rifle . . . but I just got a phone call from a friend with land over near Murdo, South Dakota, and he needs me to help him deal with a horrific pheasant infestation--they're absolutely overrunning his sunflower fields!

It's gonna be sunny, 75 degrees, with a light breeze and dry fields. Sounds pretty challenging all things considered, but I guess I'd better do my duty and go help him . . .
