What type holster are these Marines using for their M9A1's?:

Looks like a Safariland to me, one of the models with the rotating hood (maybe the 6004?)

Just curious and a little off-topic but with me not being a military man I don't know the answer.

I know that they make aftermarket rails for the M9 that will allow a light to be attached, but I never see mil running a light on their pistols.

Is it a shitty mounting system and not reliable or are there SOP's that prevent them from using them? I also know that what works from one unit won't fly with another.

In LEO I hardly ever see anyone without a light (including CID ). Since a pistol mounted light has pretty much taken over the LEO side, why not the mil?

Surefire used to (might still) make a light that attaches to the front trigger guard area. I don't recall seeing many lights being used on pistols at all.

Looks like this may be the current set up. http://www.surefire.com/MR11-Mounting-Rail
