CAPITOL POLICE
Woman Finds Officer in Her Bed

By Allison Klein
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, October 1, 2009

A U.S. Capitol Police officer was arrested Sunday morning in Arlington County when a woman came home and found him passed out drunk in her bed, police said. The two had never met.

The officer, Thomas Patrick McMahon, 34, was charged with unlawful entry. Police say they are perplexed as to why McMahon picked the apartment, in the 1000 block of North Randolph Street, to sleep. He lives in Reston.

"I don't know if it looks similar to his apartment in Reston or what," said Arlington police spokeswoman Crystal Nosal. "Thankfully, nobody was hurt."

When officers arrived at 1 a.m., McMahon was still sleeping, Nosal said. Police think he walked into the apartment through the front door.

McMahon, a Capitol Police officer since 1998, is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal charges, said Kimberly Schneider, a Capitol Police spokeswoman. Schneider said the agency will also conduct an investigation.

His arrest was first reported on WUSA-9.com.

Common - he was just sleepy. And dont let that tell you anything about Reston.

EDITED,

Because I know there are substantial reasons to continue to attempt righteousness.

And in other news, the Arlington woman later complained about a man that left his towel on the floor, was rude to her sister on the phone and didn't take out the trash.

At Ft. Knox I once went into the Barracks adjacent to mine, and upon finding the correct room number, made myself at home and went to sleep. I was in Alpha Battery! So this guy wakes me up and is like,"What are you doing in my bed?" And I'm like "WTF?"
Long story short, I ended up in the pit the next day, but was not formally disciplined;ie;Article 15 or what-not. Back in my day, a good smokin' really worked wonders.;)

Ha :D His friends probably got tired of his drunk ass, pulled the car over, and announced, OK you're home, get out...

Yeah. How insensitive of that woman to have this civil servant arrested when all he as obviously doing was warming up her bed for her!! :D

This is a classic example of the difference between a man and a woman.

Woman finds man passed out in bed and calls the police.

Man finds woman passed out in bed and calls his friends.

That all depends on how much she weighs

Buddy of mine did that at Ft Pickett. He staggered drunk into an empty Firetrap Barracks (they all look-alike) and passed-out.

10:00AM the next morning the SMG is going nuts because they are supposed to return to home post from AT and they can't move because he is missing.

Finally, about 11:00, he wakes up and finds everybody else. Because of that incident, alcohol is thereafter banned from AT.

He got busted from E-7 to E-4. I would guess it is technically missing a movement but in reality, nobody moved! :)

Dude, shit happens. Don't sweat it. At least nobody got hurt.

This was a comment in the OP that I found kinda funny. In reality, the female resident was more of a threat than the police officer was (as he evidently was sleeping pretty soundly). :D

While I don't condone this, I doubt there was any criminal intent.

Dude should have locked his door. Ditto for the woman. It is amazing how effective a locked door can be. At the very least it makes a drunk stop to think about why the door won't open.

Did he get a court martial? E-7s don't get busted three ranks just by ART-15. It takes a one star or higher to take our rank.

Yep. That caught my attention, too. If they can't make you, they can't break you.

I feel bad for all parties involved. The cop had too much to drink and made a mistake.Shit happens. He didn't kill or hurt anyone. The same thing happened to a buddy of mine in Vegas. We went out,got shitfaced then we returned to our rooms.Only problem was he got confused and went into another guests room ( yes.his computer coded room key opened their door),stripped bare ass naked and went to sleep. Then the senior citizen couple returned from breakfast to find some big,muscle-bound stranger butt naked in their bed. They called security and to make a long story short, cleared the confusion up and escorted my friend to his room.

If that's the worst thing that happened to your friend here, he should be happy.
