View Full Version : DD Lite Rail 12.0 FSP
Can anyone point me to some good photos of one of these on a 16" carbine (preferably an LMT)?
I'm considering buying one.
Look for pics of the DDM4. It's going to look nearly identical... It has a 12.0 FSP DD Omega X rail so the mounting is slightly different but the form factor is the same.

I can take a pic of the whole rifle if you want.

Yes, please do when you get the time (no hurry). That's a sweet looking rig. Details?

It's a Colt 6920 as the base rifle. A few things have changed since that picture was taken. I can probably post a pic tomorrow.

Lindertw,
How do you like the RIS II? I'm strongly leaning towards one of those for my next rifle.

Bearing in mind this is my first and only rail system (so far), I like it. The RIS is built like a tank, and while it's a little heavier than the Lite FSP (16.2oz vs 13.7oz), I can remove the bottom section for cleaning purposes if needed. As pictured the rifle weighs in at 8lb 6.7oz.
The gap/cutout for the front sight post is a smaller on the RIS FSP; which to me just looks a little better. Not that it makes me shoot better, but I think mine was one of the first RIS II FSP models made in black (vice SOCOM brown)
So with the DD Lite Rail, is the transition between the receiver and rail "monolithic" enough to have an accessory span across the two? Just curious.

I wonder which would be better - this or the Omega version?

Each type of DD rails has a different purpose/intended use. But IMHO the tier level of DD rails goes like this: Omega, Lite Rail, RIS II....All are good rugged lightweight rails with the RIS II being the best of their stuff.
Omega is great if you want a very thin rail. The Lite rail is one piece and a little wider than the Omega. The RIS II is two-piece and the bottom rail is closer toward the barrel. The RIS II can also free float a rifle/carbine barrel and still mount a M203. All three rails are right up against the receivers rail.
