Divert your eyes Dinger. Gratuitous HK416 porn ahead. Sorry but someone wanted to see the piston set up.
Anyway, on to the sight. Very cool set up. Supposedly, this was for the ill-fated HK XM8 rifle. In any event, it is a nice but REALLY spendy sight. Some specs:
1.7 MOA red dot
NV compatible
less then 10oz
7 daytime red dot settings
5 nighttime settings
laser and red dot are co-aligned
body made of polymer
single screw mount
The red dot is adjusted by rubber covered "+" and "-" buttons on top of the sight. The laser is activated by a rubber covered button on the uper left side. There is a master kill switch on the lower right rear of the unit.
The FOV is much less than an Aimpoint. The mount does not give me confidence that it would stand up to really hard use. Everytime I see a rail mount, my first thought is could LT make a replacement. I'm sure Mark could but they will probably never sell enough of these things to make it worth it.
It is a very nice sight but it is expensive. It seems that optics are really going up in price but for a retail of a little over $1300 and a MAP of $1045, wow is this going to be a tough sell. Yeah, I know it has a visible laser but seriously, how much are you going to use it? There is a mil/LE version with an IR designator. I'm all over that.
You could get a 553, a Comp M3 AND a mount for less than that if you shop around (I suggest www. gandrtactical.com for all of your optic needs :) , Yes, that was shameless. Get over it.)
