I just wanted to share this with you guys.I built this Kids Rifle for my 12 year old son.I used good parts just not the best I could buy.I wasn't trying to build him a Tier 1 carbine.Ok I got that out of the way.
I did use an M16 Bravo Co Bolt carrier and bolt (I consider Bravo Co a Tier One BCG)
It's got a 16 inch 1/9 twist Wilson Chrome -moly Barrel Pencil Barrel
Rock River Arms LPK
Bushmaster Stubby Stock
Smith and Wesson Lower Receiver
The upper is a C7/A1 Purchased from PKFIREARMS
He's left handed so I installed an ambidextrous Safety Selector
A1 Flash hider
I'm thinking about putting the H buffer in it for him.(What's your opinion on this ?)
I think I built him a really good plinker for a 12 year old. What do think guys?
Oh I built a pair the barrel on mine is a Colt A1 Chromelined 1/12 twist. It's a new old stock barrel I found
Everything else is basically same.
I have included some pictures for your viewing pleasure:D

He is a lucky kid, with a Dad who really loves him. He will remember these events all of his life. I know I did.

Good job, Dad. I look forward to when my kids are old enough to use and appreciate the rifles I have for them, too...

Of course, my wife is convinced I built all of them for myself -- and the kids are merely the beneficiaries of my largesse...

Best,
Alan

Excellent Dad! If they learn young they will respect and honor firearms more. JMHO

That is great. At that age i got a Nintendo, would of been a whole lot better to get an AR.

That is a really cool build for someone his age, and I bet he likes it even more since it's looks just like a smaller version of Dad's. Hopefully he will be able to pass it to his son. Just don't let him find this site until he has his own job, or your funds will be expended quickly:D

I think you should leave it as it is. Have him shoot it, and see how it goes. If you need to change it, let him be part of the process. Your kid is going to have some awesome memories to share with his son.

What a great gift for a dad to give his son.

I used Brownell's lacquer sticks. It works really good I like it. It last a long time without having to go over it again. It's not as permanent as painting though.

I think I built him a really good plinker for a 12 year old. What do think guys?[/IMG]I believe the BM stubby uses a carbine spring and sized buffer. Definitely won't hurt to replace it but you may want to try shooting the rifle and see how it does as is.

I think it is a very nice rifle and he is indeed a lucky kid. I also built a black rifle for my son, but he is only 5 1/2 right now, so it will be a couple of years before he actually gets to start shooting it. The good ole .22 bolt will come first. ;)

You are raising him right - Teaching him about guns and, judging from his T-shirt, he is being brought up in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

Bravo!
