I was at Wal Mart today and I noticed that they have Winchester Powder Blast in a 12oz can for $4.97 and Winchester CLP in a 4oz can for $3.97. Brownell's has Break Free Powder Blast in a 12oz can for $12 and Break Free CLP in a 4oz can for $7. That's quite a big difference in price. Is the Winchester so much cheaper b/c its crappy? I'm just wondering what the difference is. Has anyone tried the Winchester stuff? Sorry, i'm just a rookie and I don't want to use crap but I don't want to spend extra money on something for no reason either.
Thanks

I'm wondering about this also because, if you look closely, the cans read, "Winchester Break Free (with trademark) CLP."

So, did Winchester buy out Break Free? Is this the same product?

I don’t have anything definite, but it appears that BF was bought out. If you look closely at the Winchester can, it still bears the BF logo.

Why would they have to buy them? Why couldn't they just do a deal to joint-market the product?

There are only about 1,000,000 examples of joint marketing in the world.

Break-Free’s web site makes no mention of Winchester which I find strange. But there is a video explaining consolidation of brands.

I went to Wally World to pick up some CLP two days ago and saw the Winchester Break Free. Saw the Break Free logo on the can. I stared at the box of cans for several minutes trying to figure out if I should buy it or not. With the Break Free logo, which had to have been trademarked, I figured Winchester had bought them. Would like to get the story on it. Can't believe none of us had a heads up on this.

Rem Oil is usually right next to it. Just by that.:D

I thought all the stuff at walmart, irregardless of brand, was re-branded into winchester. Targets that were the shoot and see brand(or what ever the technical name is) are re-branded as winchester, same as the break free stuff. Just a marketing thing from walmart.

And to however recommended rem-oil, that is the worst gun oil I have ever tried. I used it once because it was what my dad had and it evaporated before we even went shooting the next day. He switched away from it after realizing it evaporates so quickly.
