Hey everyone , got a question or two. I believe myself to be pretty knowledgeable when it comes to AR15's but for my latest build I am having some difficulty. First I started with an colt upper with a 16 inch 7.62 barrel and replaced it with a 16 inch 5.56mm barrel -- replaced the bolt and carrier -- but didn't replace the gas tube.
The problem's I'm having - 1) does not feed properly - failure to completely seat the round in the chamber, and i'm not talking every now and then, it happens with every round, infact quite the opposite, i might get off 2 maybe 3 rounds consecutively. 2) 2 times the bolt sheared off the back of the casing. 3) and twice i've had casings get jammed in between the key and the carrier.
The question I have is, could all this be happening because of the gas tube?
or is it something else?
Thanks for the help ]
