Cory, what mount you using in your unit?

Sometimes I have to research mounts for units and I am unable to ID this one that allows the mag to face back.

You can literally put any type of weapon in the rack. As long as it has a trigger guard it will lock the weapon in.

How do you like that Bowers cover?

Mine didn't last the first training session.It gets really hot.
Most Ive ran thru it at a time was 90 in fairly rapid order. I use it as a bump cover.

No issues with the Short Stock. I think if I was a little bigger (had longer arms) it may be an issue, but for me it works out well. LMT is crushing it with that platform.

WOW, what an amazing little blaster that is. Imho that rifle represents the cutting edge of AR evolution and design, all the while doing so in an absolute bombproof manner. Congrats on your rifle:)

I appreciate it. And I agree. The capabilities the MRP platform brings to the table are unmatched in the AR market in my opinion. Other platforms have similar capabilities but being able to switch calibers AND gas systems is extremely legit. They're doing it right over at LMT.

ANYONE here a lefty like me w/ extensive time (hundreds/thousands of rds.) using the KAC extended mag release?Sorry man. Must have missed that. I'm only briefly in and out on the boards these days and don't follow up every thread I participate in. What did you want to know about the KAC extended mag release specifically? What I can tell from my limited use so far is that it's very effective in terms of being able to easily manipulate with your left hand. I have medium fingers, not scary porno long, and I haven't experienced any downsides. It does not interfere with the manipulation of the Maritime bolt catch, but then again I'm right handed and don't spend a lot of trigger time on my weak side. However, you should be good to go unless you've got freakish baby hands or something.

Years ago it was spray painted multicam. Barrel, handguard and stock have changed since then. The paint has worn away.

Sorry man. Must have missed that. I'm only briefly in and out on the boards these days and don't follow up every thread I participate in. What did you want to know about the KAC extended mag release specifically? What I can tell from my limited use so far is that it's very effective in terms of being able to easily manipulate with your left hand. I have medium fingers, not scary porno long, and I haven't experienced any downsides. It does not interfere with the manipulation of the Maritime bolt catch, but then again I'm right handed and don't spend a lot of trigger time on my weak side. However, you should be good to go unless you've got fteakish baby hands or something.

I used the knights, norgon, and the Troy Ambi mag release of all three the Troy was the best fit for me while running a maritime bolt catch. I wear a size large in gloves if that helps. I found the knights move the release too far back towards the grip which didn’t work with my size hands and the norgon was too close to the maritime catch. Hope that helps

Looks similar to what I have. What barrel is that? Also what are you using to mount your light? Looks there are two? One that is attached to the rail and another on top of that which the light is mounted on?

barrel is a rainier arms select 10.5"with matching bcg and the light mount is a midwest industries mlok to keymod adapter with a vltor keymod scout light mount.Had the keymod scout laying around and my local store had the adapter instock and its been working quite well.

Been trying to figure out a lockable but discrete case for my SBR. Goal was to hold a 10.3" barrel on a SBR or Pistol lower with a LAW folder, 3 magazines and any small support gear.

cmmg 4.5 22 barrel. Since the photo was taken I've added a gemtech qd mount to make the suppressor easier to remove and put the redimag m&p 15-22 adapter in to run those mags which work so much better than the cmmg ones. Stupidly fun little plinking gun.

Not sure if this really counts as legally it isn't registered as a sbr but it does have a 14.5 inch barrel on it......

Had an opportunity to stretch this rifle's legs a little and I'm quite pleased. 18" target, sporadic wind alternating 90-270 degrees, shooting bulk remanufactured 55gr .223 out of a bucket with the 11.5" enhanced lightweight barrel. Top right was a 3-shot group at 200 yards fired fairly quickly, bottom right was three separate 3-shot strings at 500 yards. Did not dial any dope, just used the P4Xi's BDC reticle for holdovers and guessed on windage (range had windsocks at the 100 and 300 yard lines).

There is a KAK URX kit that comes with the side panels, handstops and picattiny rail pieces. I just bolted one of those piccatinny rail pieces to the bottom of it then used a regular picatinny rail VFG (BCM) with it. I didn't like how the rail piece extended both forward and backward of the grip itself, so I trimmed the rail itself so it looks like the vfg is just attached right to the URX rail itself. Pretty clean. However, it gets HOT just in front of the vfg so I'll likely install another panel piece there just for some insulation.

1: I sent the Daniel Defense upper to DD to get the barrel replaced, they sent it back with the dust cover replaced too. It the DD polymer dust cover.

2: Surefire rail covers.

3: yes it’s Cerakote, and you were correct, it is tungsten. I cerakoted it following a bad NFA engraving. Cerakoted out of necessity.

Put a LWRC M6IC PDS 8.5-inch upper and ultra compact stock (among other things) on my LMT legal SBR lower. 20-round mag for compactness - 30s waiting in the wings. Now 23 7/8-inches long. Haven’t shot it yet but going to wear plugs and muffs.

Quick Pic with its new brace, no front sight, light or can at the moment. Probably the best pistol brace currently out there. One thing to know if you are using this brace with the Sig folding stock rifles is, this brace may not lay flat against the side of the weapon when folded unless you have the brace extended all the way out. This is due to the shape of the brace profile where you put your cheek, as it has a small shelf to it.

The Redback One Shooting System: The High Mounted Optic

I get asked all the time why I have my Aimpoint set on such a high mount? So I thought that I would write a piece on the Redback One methodology and how that relates to our shooting system and weapons set up.

There are several reasons for setting the combat optic on a high riser block and here they are.

Mitigation of muscular fatigue: The neck
Having a low mounted optic on the rifle forces the shooter to extend the head forward and down in order to acquire the sight picture. This places excessive stress on the trapezius and sternoclidomastoid muscles as they run through the upper part of the neck. Mounting the sight on a high riser block alleviates this stress by keeping the head in a more neutral position and allows the shooter to conduct long clearances more comfortably.

Mitigating muscular fatigue: The eye
By placing the optic low on the rifle and angling the head forward places a high amount of stress on the superior rectus muscle of the eye. This is an extraocular muscle that is innovated by the oculomotor nerve. The superior rectus primary function is elevation and is in its primary position while looking straight ahead. By mounting the combat optic on a high riser block, the shooter can maintain the superior rectus in as close to its neutral position as possible. This not only minimizes stress and fatigue of the eye but also allows the eye to maintain a greater range of motion, which is vital to proper scanning procedures during room combat.

Rearward Mounting and Butt-stock Position
Mounting the sight as far to the rear as possible allows the shooter to maximize the field of view provided by the combat optic. As the Aimpoint Micro is a technically more difficult sight to use due to the restricted field of view compared to other sights on the market, it requires the shooter to be more consistent with rifle presentations and mounting procedures. In order to achieve a more ‘head up’ shooting position the butt-stock must be collapsed to ensure that eye relief can be maintained and mounting speed can be maximized.

Faster Sight Acquisition and Shots on Target
Placing the combat optic on a high riser block means that the shooter has a shorter distance to move the weapon and achieve the mounted shooting position than when setting the sight on a lower mount. Traveling a shorter distance during presentation translates into faster sight acquisition, and also means faster rounds on target.

Night Vision Operations
When employing night vision goggles there will likely be times when the shooter will need to use either the day combat optic with the naked eye or passively sight the rifle by using the NVG behind the combat optic. Two occasions that might occur are when or if the aiming laser fails, or when operating in an environment where there is a belief that the enemy possesses a night fighting capability. In order to achieve either method of targeting while wearing NVG’s, the shooters head must remain in a neutral and upright position.

Gas Mask Operations
In order to be able to quickly mount and target the rifle while using the protective gas mask, the combat optic must be raised to ensure that the weapon is presented naturally and not canted to one side. Having the combat optic mounted low on the rail makes it extremely difficult to sight the weapon making target engagements slower and potentially less accurate. This also places the head in an unnatural position while shooting which is again counter productive to this technique.

Potential Negatives
There is an argument that could be made to suggest that without a low, deep solid cheek weld on the butt-stock that recoil management could suffer which will affect accuracy. That argument is partly true if the shooter does not fully understand recoil management and how to can be mitigated, which is beyond the scope of this article. Suffice to say that I do not have any issues with recoil management.

There is also an argument that the mechanical offset is too much and is detrimental to accuracy in CQB operations. This is quit a small point really as there is always some mechanical offset and must be trained during individual skills training at the range. I always ensure to include an offset in every drill that I shoot during CQB shooting evolutions regardless of the size of the target. I know exactly where I need to aim to achieve the shot placement I need to maximum incapacitation. Our Operator Readiness Test is a fantastic assessment of speed and accuracy which requires the shooter to place 12 rounds of carbine and 12 rounds of pistol inside a six-inch circle with one hundred percent accuracy with both the pistol and carbine from a distance of 7 yards in a time frame of 20 seconds. Being able to perform these speed and accuracy requirements means that your ability to include an offset under stress has been assessed.

Conclusion
In closing, there are many advantages to mounting the combat optic on a high riser block that clearly out weight the perceived disadvantages as I have outlined above. The Redback One Shooting System has been designed to compliment our close quarters battle and target prosecution courses and seamlessly mesh with CQB TTP’s. If you haven’t tried it out, give it go and see what you think. It may require you to retrain some preexisting neural pathways from legacy techniques but once you overcome them you likely won’t go back.

Most recent on an older SBR'd Mega Billet lower. CMMG 4.5" barrel and Freedom Armory "Minuteman" silencer under the BCM KMR, Scalarworks sights and Giessele Hi-Speed match trigger, MagPul grip and Butt.

Shoots remarkably well for what it is, about 2 to 2.5 MOA at 75 yards. Tried some match grade .22's and found the Cci Mini Mag solids to shoot the best of what I had.

That cmmg barrel with the bcm rail makes a really fun little setup. I threw one on a spare smith and wesson sbr'd lower a little while ago with the mlok version of the rail. I ended up using the gemtech quad lug adapters to make it easier to pull my silencerco suppressor off. Also went with the bettermag adapter to run smith and wesson m&p15-22 mags intead which I found to be a lot better. One of my friends is waiting on his tax stamp for his lower and a 22 suppressor due to how much fun he had with mine.

Now when its throw on a lower that isn't registered as a sbr it can get real interesting. My friend shooting my upper on an old colt lower I have.

Well folks I don't have a photo to share in this thread but I am VERY happy and ecstatic to report that I just purchased a DD MK18 and an Advanced Armament SR5! Got an appointment on Thursday for fingerprints & photos and will send off two $200 checks to the ATF. I made more incremental changes to my SBR and I'm still getting used to the new setup, but almost to the 10k round mark on the rifle itself. I definitely feel the extra weight of the new optic, but I'm loving the 1.93 mount and extra magnification at distance. I need way more time behind it to see if the weight is a real issue or not, and getting used to the new glass.

I'm on the fence with the M600DF vs. RM1... truth be told, I'm more impressed with the Streamlight now after owning the Surefire. I'm sure that statement will put a bunch of panties in a bind but I'm honestly underwhelmed by the performance of the M600DF, indoors and out. At 3x the cost, 4.25x the output and nearly 2x the size, I was expecting the Surefire to knock my socks off, but frankly I've so far been unpleasantly surprised with the beam pattern, color temperature and candela. Again, I need more time behind it to know for sure.
