I would like to try it without the Krink for awhile. After that it will get remounted.

I took off my KX3 and tried my 10" with a Phantom... 1 trip to the range convinced me to put the KX3 back on and it is gonna stay on until I get a can :)

I really like it.
It does everything I need. I get my light at 6 0-clock like I want and a vert grip all in one relatively cheap package. Plus the 6P makes an excellent weapons light in the first place.

Clint,

That is from a run of Maritime CIRAS vests from Eagle that I had made up in the MultiCam pattern.

I just build mine using the "How To" thread posted by Christian R on the Lightfighter forum. He used the thread posted by Basicload as a guide and worked out the details for everybody else to follow. It was very easy and only took about a half hour.

"Gangster Grip" Vertical Foregrip Lights
http://lightfighter.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9046084761/m/3471091951/r/4181032061#4181032061
I had an old 6P that was not being used so it just made sense. It also solved a problem for me. I had just come back from a LAV class were he teaches to grip the weapon out farther on the hand guards for better recoil control. Larry actually reaches out far enough to grip the bayonet lug at times. I tried this technique and as you might expect it works. :D
My only problem was mounting a white light without using a tape switch (I dislike them). The "Gangsta Grip" solved the problem perfectly and also allowed me to have a vert grip. The only thing I did different was some additional re-contouring of the A2 grip to get rid of the hump. I also added a piece of inter-tube to hide it. It was damn ugly after the re-contour job.

That was exactly what I think most people who've bought them or made them have wanted. A way to incorporate a vertical foregrip with a light using no tape switch.
The design tends to lend itself very well to being put out as far as possible on a carbine length rail. It can still be used on a longer rail, but at certain positions, the shadow cast by the rail into the light can be very large.

I've recently made one like this for a friend-
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f36/castle-bravo/gangstergrips/02-6pa2z32.jpg
And it reminded me that I very much dislike using an A2 grip for this project and leaving it alone. With the way that I position my hand on the grip, each of the "bumps" was under a knuckle and it was quite uncomfortable to hold it for a few moments, much less shoot with it.
Another one that I made -
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f36/castle-bravo/gangstergrips/01-6pa2smoothf26.jpg
I much prefer this setup to the one above. It takes a bit more work, but the results are quite good, I think.
Another change since that original picture was having the thumbscrew on the left side of the mount. It provides a nice little area to position your thumb if you shoot thumbs forward like that.
ChristianR/CyclicD is at Ft Hood right now and doesn't have too much spare time, so I've taken over Gangster Grip production with his blessing.
If anyone needs any help assembling one or has any questions about them, please let me know.
Raith, thanks for the update and pictures.
The only thing I do differently is to turn the 6P so that the flats are on the top & bottom. This allows the grip mounting screw to go up through the drilled/tapped Aimpoint mount & spacer. It now bottoms out on a flat surface. I never had a problem with the 6P rotating, but this would certainly prevent it from ever being a problem.
The only thing I would still like to do is tone down the sharp edges of the Aimpoint mount with some sandpaper and a file. It can be irritating if used all day as is.

I don't want to stray too far off topic, but thats an interesting point I hadn't ever thought of. I think my (and Christian's) rationale with the flats on the sides was so that the most amount of contact in the direction that the ring was pulling together was on the non flat part of the light. That may be unfounded, though. Likely the Surefire flashlight body is the strongest part of the whole equation.
I'd like to find a suitable 8/10" ring and build one using Grant's WG weaponlights. I think that'd be cool.
Here are a couple pics of my 7.5" that I use as a range plinker and for 3-gun tac matches if the course is set up with a lot of CQB stages. I just took the Aimpoint and Troy BUIS off and put them on my XCR. I have a LaRue Iron Dot on order for the SBR.

Your 6.8 SBR looks terrific.
I was going to go with the LaRue Tactical 3X magnifier mount like you have (love the way you reversed it to accomodate the flip cover, thought I was the only one who thought of that), but two things.
First it is on a MRP so no worries about rail estate and room for a BUIS, especially as I like a nose to charging handle cheekweld even with magnified optics.
Second, I ditched the Aimpoint flip up caps a while back (they're a pain in the rear, a spare TA11 scopecoat protects both when in the case), and run a Killflash ARD in the front (not really bad once you train with it a little bit).
The Aimpoint rubber eye cup actually works good mounted between the M3 and 3X, sort of gives a "seal" between the two which has survived my testing with heavy rain as well as direct heavy spray with a garden hose (not planning on going diving!).
I have actually had the Aimpoint flip up caps give me more trouble in the rain, it seems opening and closing them (or their just being there splashing raindrops) puts more water on the sight's lenses than if you just don't mount them at all.
The Killflash is a mixed blessing, keeps the water out unless it's blowing then it keeps it in.

I recently updated and SBRed my Bushmaster M4. It has given me 7 years of faithful service, but was in need of a new barrel and an overall update. The last barrel had many cases of ammo through it (I stopped counting at 15,000 rounds). I decided that in addition to rebarreling I would also SBR it. Some of the new features include:
-Noveske 10.5" chrome-lined Stainless barrel
-Daniel Defense 9.0 Lite Rail (Thanks Jay and Marty!)
-Larue LT-150 Aimpoint mount (Thanks Monty and Larue Tactical!)
-Magpul CRT Carbine stock
-LMT fixed front BUIS
-Troy folding rear BUIS
-Surefire X200 (still waiting on the XT-07 tailcap for this one)
So, like a phoenix rising from Arizona she went from this:

...to this:

nice camo job. Bowflage ?
Yes. I just found out that HS Camo discontinued the removeable bowflage line. I guess I'll have to switch to model paints to get the good camo colors that I want.

Thanks,

It's an VLTOR and yes it is tricky with the DD Lite Rail. Fortunately, the Noveske barrel was properly dimpled for the gas black set screw. That made the job considerably easier.

Well I couldn't beat the price...... Free
The truth is it started out as a serialized CQBR I picked up from the REF at Khandahar. Then the barrel along with the KAC can went south. I then got a colt 11.5 and came across the ARMS rig which it sits in now. As far as operative wise it has worked flawlessly. Although it is a bit heavy when i put the PEQ-2 on it. The current can works GREAT and has never given me a problem.
As you'll notice, my gear....... It is dirty

All I have to say is when I have to buy another Surefire for a rifle, it's going to be a Scout. I've never owned a SF 9V, so it's kinda hard for me to compare a Scout to one, but I can't tell a major difference in performance between the Scout and a regular 6V or my 951. The difference in weight is very noticable though. It's almost like night and day. USMC03 is the one that pointed me (as usual) in the direction of the Scout. He replaced a few SF 9Vs for Scouts because the 9Vs were too much extra weight for not that much more added benefit.
Molsen, do you know if Surefire makes a "C" tailcap for the Scout?
Molsen, do you know if Surefire makes a "C" tailcap for the Scout?
If by "C" you mean "clickie" as in click-on and click-off, then yes, they do. In fact, mine came with both the "C" and the tape switch.

It's called the SW02 tailcap an it's no longer produced by SureFire, get yours while they're still around.
MadDog,
what else can you tell us about that Iron Dot? Does it have any issues that you have seen, like washing out in bright light, or when aiming from a dark area to a bright area? Those were the things that turned me off from the Reflex. I want a light CQB dot for my 11.5" BCM that will be ready to go when I grab it.
Oh, by the way, is MadDog in any way a reference to Jerry "MadDog" Shriver?

Here's mine. It has an LMT 10.5" upper and BCG topped off with an Aimpoint ML3 and 3x Magnifier on a Samson flip-mount. It also has a grippod (which I wish was a little shorter), CAA M-33 2-rail handguard and Noveske KX3 muzzle device. The lower is an RRA with various internals (combination RRA, Bushy, and what else I had lying around). Magpul CTR stock, CQB Solutions (now Specter) HST sling which I have rigged to be detachable and convertible to a 2-point.
This is in an i-Shot 30-inch case which is what protects it the trunk of my car.

Damn nice Krink Edwin and how the hell do you all take such good pics? Mine always suck!!!
It's all in the lighting.
The above photo was a quick snapshot taken with a Canon G7 and a 430EX flash, bounced off the ceiling at an angle. Direct flash almost always sucks.
The Krink shoots great, here is a 50 yard rapid fire group, prone, the rifle is zeroed at about 28-29 yards, and I expected a little more rise than I got, but the results were excellent anyway.
Certainly not my best group ever, but very effective for a weapon being fired at roughly 1 round per second or faster.
I'm going to somehow put a micro Aimpoint on it, maybe weld a piece of rail in front of the rear sight.

Try outside during overcast conditions, you should get pretty good results. Another trick with point-and-shoot cameras is to put some tissue paper in front of the flash to soften the light.

I was referring to you, and the comment about being part chicken. Given the nature of your contributions here, I doubt anyone would fault me for the conclusion I drew. I am guilty of my fair share of internet pissing contests, but I dont generally enjoy them, you seem to.
I suggest we let the matter drop, discussing it further in a public forum serves no purpose other than to get into another pissing match.

What bag is this? You setup is going to be similar to they way I want mine to end looking like and I need to get a bag.
Yes, what bag?
G23- I think I'll eventually break down and buy a set. I'm currently using a FSB and KAC300m rear that I got for $65 so $250 is a lot to swallow...

That's an i-shot S.E.R.T. 30" case. It is a really high quality case. The best I have ever had (or seen!).
Not cheap at $130 or so.... but worth it.

Is it me or are both of those sights installed backwards?
No, I saw it too. He's had plenty of time to flip them and take a new picture to swap in before you saw them. He hasn't.

Nothing too exotic, but I like it. The important parts (upper, lower, BCG) are all LMT, purchased from Grant. I just got it all together last week, so I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. However, it should be making its first trip to Knob Creek next weekend. I'm very eager to see how she runs!

I got that TD grip at the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot in April. It was in a "Misc. Used Stuff" box for $10. It was dirty as hell, but otherwise fine. I cleaned it up and sprayed it with some Krylon Non-Skid Coating (kind of like grip tape in a can) and it's awesome. I sprayed the KAC vertical grip too, and I really like the way they feel. One of my few complaints with AR accessories is that a lot of the plastic stuff is just too smooth. I like the grips to have a slightly more aggressive texture to them, but I don't want to wrap everything in tape. So far, I'm loving the Krylon stuff. Looks good too!

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/ashooter/LLSBR2.jpg
I guess I could give some specs:
- Noveske 12.5" medium contour barrel with VLTOR low profile gas block
- Ops Inc. A2 flash-suppressor and collar for 15th/16th Model (that's where ADCO came in)
- LaRue 9.0 forend with my home-chopped TangoDown VFG
- Troy sights
- SBR'd LMT lower half
- Aimpoint ML3 soon to be replaced with an Accupoint TR21-R... or maybe some flavor of ACOG

Running like a champ, used it at a three day SWAT update course with no issues. So far it hasn't been needed on any call outs or warrant service (using HK subguns for building searches) but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

If I had the time to build an SBR it would have a setup similar to yours (simple and clean) but at the moment I'm saving funds for my SPR build.

Thanks for pointing out my error. I didn't realize it was an americanized version of the AUG. It's a very nice piece of work. I Might have to look into adding one to arsenal given the improvements made. Hopefully TPD doesn't pay any license or royalties to Steyr, that would be a deal breaker for me.

This is my first build... it was going to be the cheapest 10.5 build I could make but that didn't last long. I figured since I have a Colt 16 inch, this one should be as small as possible. Then I thought, the VIS is the coolest looking upper out there, and Noveske just partnered up, so what the hell... then the accessories started catching my eye...
The rest is history. I love this gun. Got to snap it on a full auto lower and it fired like a dream. Definatley the favorite piece in the safe for sure.

Wait, how long is your 6450? 11"? I thought they were a touch shorter than that. Or did you have it lengthened less than an inch?

buddyhoohaw, what is ingraved on the bottom of your triggerguard?
I think you and I know the answer to that and I don't think it's legal...
Good news is he can re-engrave his lower elsewhere... ;)
Yes,if so I would get a Magpul triggerguard in ingraved for my soon to be projet SBR LMT.
