I have a question about something little and hope one or more of you can help.

I recently purchased a BCM BFH 11.5’’ stripped barrel for a build and when I received it, looked it over, I noticed a stamp/marking on it that I was curious about. I figured it must be the manufacture’s identifying symbol or an inspection marking. Then I looked closer and it appears to look like a number 8, just not stamped deep enough to be complete on one side. I did a hell of a lot of searching on the internet looking for what the symbol/stamping indicated, but I haven’t been able to find anything. I hope you guys can help me figure this out. It started off as no big deal, but now it’s got me obsessing over it since it’s been impossible to find any info.

Here are some pictures I took. The stamp located just after the breech end where the barrel begins to neck down; just before the HF HP MP 1/7 5.56 MM NATO stamping. The last photo is really clear and shows it real good. Thanks in advance folks for any help. This barrel looks like a real winner by the way. Thanks Bravo Company!

I think that is the industry standard rejection mark.

Just joking I have no idea what the mark is for.

Why don't you email Bravo Company? It could be something as simple as the inspectors mark or the person who operated the machine.

I was going to say the guy or gal that inspected the chamber.

I know it's probably something along the lines of what's already been mentioned. Again, this isn't a big deal or anything. It's just one of those things I figured I'd ask about since I couldn't find any info regarding it on my own.

Also, just want to be clear that I have absolutely 0 issues with this, it's just something I was curious about. I feel that I need to say this before people get off thinking I'm not happy with it. That isn't the case at all.

Thanks for the replies, folks. Much appreciated!

*Update*

Those folks at Bravo sure are on top of their stuff. I e-mailed them this morning about this and got a response in minutes! It can't get any better than that. Without further delay, here is their response:

"Thanks for your purchase of the BCM products!

It is not a reference to the specification on the barrel. The standard barrel markings ID that info.

It is just used as an internal reference for us, for lot and batch.

Thanks and enjoy your BCM!"

Well... Now I/we know. Thanks again folks for taking the time to read and reply to my question. Take care!
