View Full Version : Aimpoint M4
Just got some of these in and got some pics done. They are an impressive optic when you take into account their battery life!
For those that don't know, Aimpoint won a large Army contract for these.

+1 on the micro Aimpoint

Not yet, but they are on order.

I think it is pretty good. I am a LT lever fan, but this mount is pretty good.

So the gist is longer battery life and integral rail mount. Is that worth the new price?

Some folks love common batteries (like the Army) and add to that the tremendous battery life.
Whether it is worth the money, I don't know, but it is the new USA optic of choice.

Typical Army... They get an Aimpoint that takes AA's but yet SOCOM request's an EO Tech that did take AA's and now takes CR123's....
How is that Rotary switch? The one thing I would change on my M2 if I were king for a day is a more positive Click. I have had my intensity settings change on me a few times if the switch rolls against Gear, etc.

So Big Army is standardizing on AAs and SOCOM is standardizing on CR123s?...
Hmmm, howabout an Aimpoint M5 that runs on CR123s?

Can you buy that rubber bikini cover by itself? Is it available as an accessory?
how much is the discounts?

The rotary switch is a little bigger and feels a little bit more rugged to me.

There is no rubber outer cover for the M4 like there is with the m3.

Grant, I don't know how you stay in business, because the deals you offer us are unreal. :D

I mean the rubber lens cover visible in the above pictures not the rubber body cover of the M3. Are those rubber lens covers available separately?

Forgive my ignorance(Im not Army, I dont know) what reticle? What are the advantages to this vs other Aimpoint models? Is is NVG compatible? Is it magnified or can you use the separate unit with increase magnified power? Thanks for posting!
Grunt Out!
Advantages? Basically it runs forever on AA batteries.

Yeah, but my ML2 runs forever already! :D
(and it's more compact and already LaRue'd)

I'm not saying I'm going to upgrade, or even that I'd choose the M4 if I was buying a new optic. The M4 was developed for the military at the request of the military. That doesn't mean it is going to be worth $700 to you and me.

It has a 2MOA Dot, is NV compatible and is non magnified, but you can add the Aimpoint 3X to it. With a normal AA batt, you get about 80,000hrs of run time. With a Lithium AA, you get around 100,000 hrs!
So the main advantage to use Civy's, is the run time.

Correct. For us little people it's a bigger, bulkier answer for a question we didn't ask. I'm still recoil testing my spare cell that's in the LT mount for my ML2.
