Just figured I would post up some quick information, since there has been a few Magpul threads.

I recently installed Magpul's MOE forarm on my rifle. From the minute I put it on, I was in love.

It's light weight, and a very comfortable shape in the hand. I don't run a VFG or Rails, to keep weight down, but feel like I have a very solid hold on the rifle.

The fit was perfect. It took some "Thwacking" with my palm to fit in over the barrel nut, but it went on pretty easy. Very solid lock-up. The forarm does not shift, twist, rattle or move. I may write a more detailed review later on, but for now, a Picture.

Nice pic. What rail did you use to attach your flash light? I want to buy a MOE for one of my rifles and attach a light the same way you did. KISS and light are always a plus.

It's a Streamlight rail. It's short, and Polymer. I will probably change it to something that fits a little better, but this works very well. The mounting screws don't quite "fill" the slots. But if you just rest the screws on the edge of the cutouts, then tighten them down, it's very stable.

And a Viking Tactics offset light mount.

Thanks. I have the same mount on one of my rifles, great mount at a good price. It's a little bit of a pain to search for an Allen key at times but it is solid, works well and is priced right. And it is made in AMERICA! I showed my rifle and light set up to our local National Guard when I saw them in a local gun shop looking for weapon mounted lights for their M16's for an upcoming deployment. I looked for some NSN numbers; you would not believe the great pricing they get! I think it was $19 for a surefire G2. I was frustrated I could not find an NSN for the G2 LED, I even called surefire to double check. I am glad they will have a good set up for each of their rifles. The price was good enough that they were able to outfit all their guys.

I'm enjoying the heck out of my MOE handguards. They weren't utterly necessary by any means, but for $30, they are a nice touch. Need to get off my ass and order a rail section and mount for my G2LED.

I got some MOE handguards primarily for the extra protection at the FSB and the nub underneath. I'm relatively new to ARs and have gotten hold of a hot FSB enough times that the MOE appealed to me. Beyond that, I like the way it feels compared to standard handguards, and the ability to attach a piece of rail to mount a light is a huge plus for me, because I don't really need rails for anything else.

They're well-contstructed and fit solid too.

Nice looking gun you have there. All you need to do is replace the flashlight with one in forest green and it would match perfectly.
The Magpul MOE forend is my favorate non railed forend.

How is the front sight working on top of the gas block? I was going to suggest the same set to my buddy but thought Mag Pul said not to install it above the gas block because of heat. Thanks.

The front sight does not look like a Magpul sight. Therefore made of metal. Should be OK then.

If you want a rail setup the fits the MOE handguard, look at the CAA site. They have several polymer mounts that are not all that expensive. I have one of their mounts that has two angle rails that lay on either side of the handguard. They can mounted on top or bottom and will hold a flashlight and a laser if need be.

I know CAA has a bad rep on this forum, but even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while. The angled mount solved my need for a flashlight mount.
