Sounds good, this is always a great class.
Great class guys, don't miss out. You have a chance to learn the platform from the best!
I love this class and look forward to it every year. :D I can see myself shooting my Arsenal SA-M7 Classic, Romanian MD-65 AKM, and hopefully an Arsenal SLR-107FR during the class.
What AK's are you guys planning on shooting?

Count me in.
What AK's are you guys planning on shooting?
Probably my SLR-107CR and my Classic. Or maybe my SLR-105. Or my Romy if my Dad ever gives it back to me. :(
Probably my SLR-107CR
:D
I forgot about that sweet ass 107CR of yours.
I still need to buy a "Modern" AK. Hopefully I will be able to find a standard SLR-107FR by then.
Outstanding class.
Whether you are going to be deployed OCONUS and want to understand the weapon of our enemies or you're an enthusiast who wants to get the most out of the AK that you've had in the back of your safe, this is the class to take.
Vickers isn't just an instructor who knows how to run an AK, he's an enthusiast of the Kalashnikov system and knows it's strengths and it's quirks.
If you've never taken a formal carbine class, don't let that intimidate you. Everyone can take something away from this class, whether you're a civillian "average joe", or an experienced veteran.
I'm going to do my best to be able to make this class.

Ahhhhhhhh...after seeing the pictures from some of the previous classes I pulled the 107CR out of the safe and fondled her for a little while. We talked and decided that she would indeed be attending this class and we also agreed to make a date real soon and hit the local range to check for zero and just to spend a little time together.
xoxoxoxo
:D
Having been to a couple of these, I think my favorite part of these classes is that LAV is completely open and honest about the AK; both what it's good at and what it sucks at.
It would be easy, I think, to have a class full of avowed AK nuts (who else would come to an AK only class?) in front of you and tell them what they want to hear. AKs rock, they don't do anything poorly, etc. He doesn't do that, though he's clearly a fan of the design.
For anyone who hasn't taken this class and you're looking for a change of pace from your standard class full of ARs, this is a good one. Instead of being the odd man out with an AK at a class full of ARs, you get dedicated time for the AK from a guy who knows a ton about it.
FYI: This class has been moved to Fuquay-Varina, NC as will all further "Fayetteville, NC" Vickers Tactical/Grey Group Training classes. The Drake Landing range is nicer, run by some awesome guys, and a lot less hassle than some of the other options in the area. All "Moyock, NC" classes are still being held at the U.S. Training Center (Blackwater U.S.A.) as before.

I have edited the entire class thread to reflect these changes.
I'm in.
Actually, the new facility is 30mins closer to where I'm staying. Awesome!
Now to decide between the SAR-3 and the milled x39 Arsenal.... :D

I'd like to stick with one caliber for the primary and the backup. But if I bought four :) haha
I got my SLR-107CR sighted in (verified zero) in prep for this class. I realize I'm a little early but I'm excited!

Come on down my friend, I have few seats still available.
I think this is one of the best classes LAV has each year.
FYI: Vickers Tactical / Grey Group Training would like to thank U.S. Palm for sending out a box of their new AK30 magazines for our students to try out in the class. Everybody will receive a free magazine and the rest will be used as prizes for individual drills.

Does anyone have any VZ 58 mags I can borrow for the course? I live in Maryland and no mags over 20 rds are permitted, so I cannot buy em online. Many thanks.....:(
I've got 150rds of Cheetah 7.62x39mm ammo I'll be happy to give to anyone that can help on mags....

Where's everyone staying?
Where's everyone staying?
I strongly suggest the Holiday Inn in Fuquay-Varina. It’s very nice, real close to the range, and everything you will need is also close by.
The class email just went out this morning.
Everyone should have the start time, directions, required weapon/gear list again, etc. If anyone signed up and did not receive the email please let me know ASAP.
The start time is 08:30 at the range.
See you guys Saturday morning.
Thanks,
Paul
I'm at the HI Express. It looks to be the nicest of the choices. The Comfort Inn doesn't look too bad either.
Dinger and I are also at the HI Express.

Holiday Inn Express.
I am planning on arriving between 1400 - 1500 on Friday and am going to the range to tinker with a "problem child" AK. If anyone is going to be there and wants to ride along, send me a PM and I will give you my cell number.

Either way I have the funny idea this place will quickly become a Drakes Landing class hot spot for lunch/dinner.

We currently have no plans for another one, but you know me. :D I’m always ready for another Vickers Tactical AK class. It’s one of my favorite classes each year. I will ask LAV if he wants to schedule another one.
I think we still have one open spot for this one.

It’s a small place, and the buffet has a little bit of everything. The food is great, the price is reasonable, nice people, and it’s very close to the range.

I'm going to try and be there somewhere around 7-8 tomorrow night. Anybody there is more than welcome to hook up with Templar and me for some dinner.
Dinner the night before a Vickers AK class is kind of an M4C tradition.
