Said goodby to my 1st 1911 today but got this whole package you see before you :)

Brand New G34 and Brand new X300

Just made since to me as it falls in line with me centering myself around my carry platform. I still have 2 1911's and I never really "loved" the Kimber Compact. I have a Colt CCO and Baer TRS if I feel the itch but the Glock is just a simple no frills, fix at home workhorse.

I was looking for a G17 and I CCW a G26/G19 and dont forsee the G17 being carried and this popped up local. Not 1 $ exchanged for this and I think I came out with gear I will use instead of having another gun in the safe. The X300 is my second one and looked into getting a second one a while back but there pretty pricey.

Looks like this will make a good SHTF setup for the house and the smaller brothers can share its mags :)

Looks like G17 mags will be in my stocking :)

Recently sold a 1911 to finance a M&P45. I know right where you're coming from!

Since you didn't sell the Colt I will forgive you!

Oh I feel ya there Greg believe me. Just makes since these days to consolidate platforms and calibers. The think I really dig about the glock is that the same caliber mags are usable in the smaller guns. To me that way simplifies the travel bag, and stashed magazines when need be such as glovebox, work bag, or "nightstand" mags.

Me too, since I've sold all my M&Ps and am going back to Glock. G34 and G26 are my next planned acquisitions, unless the Gen 4s are released REAL soon.

I'm curious why you sold your M&P's to go back to Glocks.

<not in any specific order>
1. Better availability of spare parts
2. I like STOCK Glock triggers better
3. The Glock 19 is the optimum size compromise between the M&P and M&Pc to me.
4. The slide release was in a worse spot on the M&P for where my thumbs tend to sit during firing.

Don't get me wrong, I think the M&P is a fantastic pistol, and I think it improves on the Glock in several areas. I would not discourage someone from buying an M&P. Also, I still have my spare M&P mags and holster. However, Glocks work better OVERALL for me.

Thanks. I was just curious.

I agree about the Glock trigger being better than the stock M&P trigger. That's why I had Bowie Tactical do trigger jobs on my M&Ps.

I told bgoode that I was holding off all new Glock purchases until after I see and have a chance to fondle the new 4th gens.

G34 was my first Glock. I watched Man On Fire too many times and had to get one.

I love it, very soft shooting.

I hate to admit it but its one of the reasons I picked mine up too. Great movie.

If my updated CCW would get here sometime soon I'd be carrying it instead of my 19.

The gen 4's are out. I noticed your location is N. AL. Have you been to Larry's? I have a G19 RTF on layaway but I think they're out of those but I did see a couple of G22 RTF's. I hope it's ok for me to mention this info here I'm not trying to advertise just see a forum member in need. ;)

RTF does not equal Gen 4.

Gen 4's are NOT out yet.

I'd consider the RTF a Gen 3.5 if there ever was such a thing.

Please see this thread for info on the 4th generation Glocks: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=39111

As already stated the RTF models are not considered the next generation.

Use of "generation" labels, a creation of the consumer...not GI, is rarely helpful. Use of manufacturer nomenclature and part numbers is. The obsession with the "generation" labeling needs to go.

Actually Glock (USA) has adopted the "generation" labeling and even posted so on the Glock USA Facebook page.

Yeah, I've seen it in an AC, and heard GI employees use it too. I'm not sure they've "adopted" it, as much as acquiesced in the interest of communication. A bit of semantics, I know.

Still not helpful when talking about the transitionals and oddballs.

I bought my G17RTF2 from Larry's. As other's have mentioned, the RTF2 guns ARE NOT the same as the forthcoming Gen4 guns.

Regarding the RTF2 grip frame: I like it... a lot. But not for CCW.

I really like my G34. Would really love to see a long slide .45ACP version. :)

Funny this thread should pop up...

I am selling a 1911 to fund another Glock purchase also. I carry a 19, and own a 17. I was thinking a 34, but then read up quite a bit on folks saying a 34 doesn't do too much more that a 17 can't do. What do you 34 owners around here say? If you had the choice between doubling up on 17's or getting a 34, what would it be? Thanks for the input.

I own a G35 and it is one of the softest shooting production 40's I ever shot. I've run the 35 with a KKM conversion barrel in 9mm and was even more amazed! Congrats on a great gun/light combo, I have an X200a on mine.

If I had a 17 what I would do is snagg a 34. The reason why is that the 17 and 34 are the same except for barrel and slide. All other parts the same. Basically, you have a backup 17 if something fails other than the 17 slide cracking, barrel breaking or gun stolen.

Do you use G17 mags when shooting it with the 9mm barrel?

I'm trying to decide if I should sell one G17 (I have a Gen II, and a Gen III) and picking up a G34 (or another G19).

So I am also wondering if there is that big a difference between the G17 and a G34? Is it worth having a G34 if one already has a G17? Or..maybe a G35 and also get a 9mm barrel?.....but if this is too much a thread hijack please ignore.

Anyway very nice G34 up there

I like the 19/34 combo, myself, and look at it as the 17 doesn't do anything the 34 wont. 34 is the same weight, just longer slide for increased accuracy/velocity. If you like the size of your 1911 get a 34.

personally I would sell the 17 to fund the 34, not the 1911, unless its a POS you just want to get rid of.

Thank you guys for your responses. Sorry if I hijacked the thread, bgoode. I'm looking forward to the range report and pics with the warrens. Definitely love those on my 19. I'm leaning 34 after reading your responses and seeing the pics. Thanks again.

Nice! Now all you need is a 33 round mag loaded with HSTs or Ranger-Ts. I always figured that a G34, tac light, and 33 round mag would be a perfect HD weapon, basically a compact SMG.

I had a 26, 19 and 17L combo with 33- and 17-round mags that would share down to the smaller guns. The 34 I shot way back when was so nice that I
decided to go one better with the 17L (for older eyes).
You will love the 34.

I was going to buy a Glock 17 but think I'l get a 34 instead. Warren sights and Vickers mag release will make it just about perfect. Oh and a Raven Concealment holster for CCW. I have CCW'ed a G35 in the past without issue.
