The new Mega, Sun Devil and Tactical Innovations lower receivers all have the upper tensioning screws. How effective are they? Do they eliminate upper-lower play? Anybody with first hand experience with these lowers? Thanks.
The tension screw seems like a good idea. If you do not have a good lower/upper fit, it would provide the same function as an Accuwedge. If you are starting a build from scratch, Mega sells "matched" uppers & lowers and the tension screw might not be needed but you would still have it. If you already have an upper and are just considering a lower, it would guarantee a tight fit between the two.

Thank you sir. Looks like the tensioning screw is a good idea then. The Mega Lower and Upper set does look beautiful.
hey singlestack,
i got a few of the sun devil lowers in a while back.
we never had to use the screw feature.
putting a spot of grease on it showed it made no contact
and the lockup was tight, with less than a millimeter
of play and pins were movable with heavy finger pressure.

They are a marketing gimmick that will do nothing to improve the accuracy of your rifle.
Play b/w the upper and lower means nothing. This is nothing more than a solution looking for a problem just like the Accuwedge. Wouldn't want it on anything I owned. Just one more part to break.
