If a 1911 like a Kimber Custom II or a SA Loaded came with a FLGR can you just switch it to a GI plug and guide rod without modifications?

Yes, it should drop right in.

Yup, swapping on my loaded was as easy as a field strip, drop in the correct parts, reassemble. Took all of 5 minutes.

That's the first(and only) thing I did to my "Loaded". I didn't see any advantage to having it and didn't want to need an allen wrench to strip the pistol.
As CD said, it will take you 5 min at most.
