Can anyone tell me if a DD Lite 10.0 will completely cover a Troy low profile gas block on a 16 in. BCM middie barrel, or do I need to go with the 12.0?? Thanks for any help you can give me.

you will have roughly 3/8"-1/2" of the block sticking out of the front of the rail. You'll need an 11" rail minimum to completely cover.

So help me God I will buy a DD Lite 12.0 and whack off an inch with a hack, if they don't make a run of 11.0;s. Are you listening Daniel Defense? I'm a man on the edge!:D Thanks for the reply Spam, I really appreciate it.

What is wrong with the extra inch? Why would you need to remove it?

Just thought 4in. of barrel showing might look odd. Strictly an aesthetics thing. I'm gonna go ahead and order the 12.0 tonite.

I personally like the long rail relative to barrel look.

Here are my two rifles both 16" barrels and with 12" DD Lite rails.

Heck I am working on a demo with a 16" noveske mid length and a DD 14" lite rail !

12" looks better than a 10" on a 16" barrel.

I'm a fan of the full 12" rail as well.

Longer is better! At least that's what the ladies say. Here's a crappy pic of my 16" middy's with 14" & 12" DD lite rails (on the left).

there's just a tiny bit of the gas block sticking out in front of the 10inch lite. barely noticeable.

Another vote for the rifle length DD 12.0. I like the extra real estate and it looks cool.

I have a 10 in DD Lite on a BCM upper with LaRue gas block. It sticks out just a bit. Similarly, a Noveske gas block is just a bit out from under 10 in LaRue rail.

I like the looks of longer rails, but I don't like extra weight. I also don't need extra length. 10 inch is an optimal length for me - I can extend my arm as far as it goes, and have enough space for a light mount. Form follows the function for me.
