I just added a new pistol grip and stock. The stock is a Vltor milspec tube adapter. The stock is a Magpul Moe with a 3/4 inch riser. I needed the riser for the dot sight to have the proper cheekweld. I really like how the gun feels now. I know AK purist will hate me but :tongueout:

I like it.

Whats your thoughts on the Vltor adaptor? My main concern from pics is if its sturdy.

Im not a fan of the vltor adapters. For whatever reason they never sit perfectly straight and always end up canted. Ive heard some users have had to shim them to get them to sit parallel with the bore.

I personally use CAA tubes on my AK builds. They're commercial spec but they're well made and each and every one of them has ended up exactly where i want it.

Pat, is that an MI rail? If so, how do you like it? How is it when it comes to dissipating heat generated by the barrel?

I have not fired it enough to have it get hot plus its 10 degrees outside with a 20 mile per hour wind. So a little heat would be welcomed. The rail sits the optic up higher than I like I had to get a cheek rest to get a good cheek weld.

The Vltor adaptor seemed great in the Saiga. However I just put one in my Mak 90 and its not fitting quite right. I may have to break out the dremil tool after work and remove some metal from the tang.

Here are some pics of the vltor stock set up on the Saiga.

Alaskapop-Thanks! Any particular reason you took the Vltor off the Saiga?

Yes I needed more height on the stock and Magpul had a cheek riser and none is available for VLtor. I put a Vltor on my Mak 90.

I just bought the Vltor tube and put a Mil-Spec Magpul with cheek piece on the tube.

I have had a screw head shear off after two LAV classes with mine.

Vltor sent me a new tube. I did not use their screws this time, I got high-grade bolts from Fastenal.

A buddy was able to save my original tube by drilling the broken shaft out and now I have two.

A big thanks to Vltor!

Alaskapopo,

VERY nice! A modern AK. Looks good.

I'm fortunate as the NATO length stock along with an AR type grip is all I need.

I hate to even try a Vltor or Mag-Pul stock as THAT will open a whole other can of worms for me....and probably fry my VISA as well. The current $120 a can ammo has been keeping me broke as it is.

I've got two AK74's and a 5.45 AR upper.

Also have a single Saiga AK 47 and a Colt Sporter AR in 7.62x39.

So I shoot far more 5.45 than anything else. I'm refering to the $120 a can 5.45 ammo that Century has on sale now. Russain Surplus 1080 rd spam cans. Buy $500 and shipping is FREE. Must have an FFL on file with Century to get the deal.

Luckily I still have about 4K+ of $80 a can russian 7.62 from MANY years back.
