Just picked up yesterday!

What's nice is that the HALO will fit any NATO standard diameter flash hider with no tools or adapters; that covers all my ARs in 5.56. With an adapter made by VLTOR (pictured below the can), it will fit the Russian/Bulgarian AK-74 front sight base; that covers all my AKs in 5.45 and 5.56. So with one tax stamp and a $75 adapter, I can run the can on 7 different guns. I'm all about getting the most bang (or "thwack" as the case may be) for my tax-stamp buck.
On the 10.5" SBR:

Very Nice! BTW what grip is on the AR?

Fobus/First Samco/CAA G27.
I debated between a HALO and and M42000 and went with the Halo. The ability to use it on every AR I own sold me, no need to buy a proprietary mount was key.
I heard that you can take the HALO apart to clean it?

Was the proprietary mount the sole reason for the HALO? (New guy asking.)

Yep, the ability to use it on a variety of guns without modification is what sold me.

With all those pics I think you guys helped me decide as well.
BTW shooter521, do you have some similar motivational pics for that multi mount 9mm. How versitile has that been and how wold you rate it?
Do you need ear plugs when you shoot the AR15 with the HALO?

do you need.......shooting any suppressed AR I think it is still smart to plug up or wear muffs.
The real benefit of shooting any suppressed 5.56 is that those around you enjoy it much more.

Why yes, yes I do. :D

Very; I've got the 3-Lug and LID mounts for it, and have run it on my 9mm AR, Glock 17 and M-11/9 SMG.
how wold you rate it?

With regular 5.56 ammo it's about like a .22 so ears are probably a good idea.
Was the proprietary mount the sole reason for the HALO? (New guy asking.)
Hell I am a new guy, too.
It was not the sole reason but carried the most wieght. I researched this subject for several months before I made the decision. I spoke with dealers and users about the benefits and negatives of each.
I believe the materials and construction of each are top notch.
The initial cost and continued cost (purchasing an expensive mount for each of my 5.56 calibre weapons) did not out-weigh the benefits of the purported db difference. I also do not approve of the behavior of people who represent AAC on other forums. But that is a personal reason and a decision made on relative ideas.

I didn't know the Halo could be adapted to a Bulgarian pattern AK.
Does the muzzle brake need to be changed out ? More specifically what we need to be purchased to run a Halo on a Arsenal SLR106 in 5.56?

The muzzle device is replaced with the VLTOR adapter as sold by POHF (http://www.pieceofhistoryfirearms.com), which functions in the same manner as the HALO locking collar. The adapter and insert can be seen below the HALO in my first pic.

Did you get the model that will fit a Smith Enterprises Vortex flash hider?

Do you run corrosive 5.45 ammo through the HALO and if so what is your cleaning procedure? I should have my HALO soon and was not aware of the 74 adaptor. I plan to get one so I can run the can on my Bulgarian 74, but am worried about corrosive Russian ball.

It's the 09 model, so I suppose it would. I don't have one to try, though.
Do you run corrosive 5.45 ammo through the HALO
Haven't yet; it's maiden voyage is coming up this weekend! I have a small stash of commercial (non-corrosive) 5.45 ammo that I'm reserving for suppressed shooting. Once its gone, I suppose I'll run the 7N6. Soaking the can in 725 Gun Cleaner or Ballistol should be sufficient to neutralize the corrosive residue, I would think.
Just got word that my dealer received my Halo from Gemtech. I should be heading over to his shop next week to fill out the paperwork and begin my wait.
I think while I am there I'll make time for a photo shoot. I am excited as this is my first suppressor.

When did you order yours? I ordered mine the first of November and have been waiting on it to arrive at the dealer....

My order was for one of the pre-2009 models as part of the Black Friday sale.
I stopped by my dealer's Monday night to complete the paperwork. Now starts the wait.

I'm betting there are going to be a lot of these $399 HALOs hitting the ranges soon. I had my order form filled out and ready to fax, and then chickened out because I'd just spend a lot of money on something else.
I kind of regret it now, so enjoy yours for me, too. :D

This is my introductory suppressor. I figured for the price, and the HALO's easy interchangeability, this was a no-brainer. I am certain in the near future I will be adding other suppressors to the collection, but for now (several months from now when I receive my stamp), the HALO will suit me just fine.

Please tell me what pistol grip you are running here?
Thanks,

Do you run corrosive 5.45 ammo through the HALO...snipped..., but am worried about corrosive Russian ball.
I'm not shooter521 but when I called AAC with the same question regarding my AAC M4-1000, Mike M. stated that shooting corrosive 5.45 through the M4-1000 would be no problem whatsoever due to the Inconel and stainless steel that it's built with (no rust-able metal used).
Hope that helps ease your mind, it did mine. I have fired over a thousand rounds of surplus 5.45x39 from AIM with not even a hint of rust in or on the can.

Does anyone have the overall length a mounted Halo adds to a barrel with an A2 birdcage? I forgot to take measurements and unfrotunately it is going to be a while before I have mine in hand.
