View Full Version : Remove Buffer Tube Nut on Knight SR15, locktight?
Does anyone know if Knight uses locktight on the shorty buffer tube nut?
It won't move. Using a long handle stock wrench, hammer, some heat. Nothing.
Anything different on a Knight SR15 receiver?
Thanks
James
I highly doubt it unless you acquired it second hand. My suggestion would be to get some Kroil or similar lube and apply it liberally to the area and allow it to penetrate. Then use a little man juice and try again. Should break loose.

my SR-15 buffer tube nut and buffer tube were loctited - it was a bitch to get them off (i just used a good castle nut wrench with cheater bar, and put the receiver in a receiver block). according to this post by III, that's what KAC does (last sentence):

Use a small butane torch to heat the castle nut for 45 seconds or so and it should come off pretty easily.

Mine was not staked nor was there any thread locker...
I took one apart last weekend and it had no loc-tite but was nicely staked.
MM,
I am shocked to be honest. I had no idea that they did that to their stuff.
