I recently obtained a used Colt upper that I am going to build up. The upper has a 14.5" Colt M-4 bbl 1-7" twist. My question is I have a YHM flash hider that when attached will bring the over all length to more than 16". My question is are the only BATF acceptable means of attachement the blind pin and weld or silver solder? What about green loc tite which requires heat and more than just hand tools to remove. Loc Tite lists it as a permanent locking compound, intended for bonding cylindrical components that are never intended to be removed.

What do you guys think?

I'd pin and weld....

I don't think LocTite is ATF approved. Better safe than sorry.

loctite is, in fact, not approved. i don't have a link to it, but somewhere on this very board is a copy of a letter from the ATF stating that none of the industrial cold-app products- green loctite, JB weld, etc- are approved, and that ONLY 1100degree silver solder, full seam weld, or blind pin/weld are approved.

Cool, thanks for the info. I agree, better safe than sorry.
