Ok I'm now in the market for a 10.5 inch set-up for a future build....

Where is the CHEAPEST place to obtain a RockRiver 10.5 complete upper.

So far here is info I have...

class3weapons 449.00 plus shipping and tax total..... 497.00

GDS 509.95 no shipping.. but get whacked with tax

Legal transfers is 500.00 no shipping and no tax...

anybody else have a hook up?????

If you haven't considered it you may want to look into a BCM upper; every single thing I have heard about them is extremely positive and I believe they are less expensive then what you have listed.

I would get the BCM 11.5 upper, it will prove to be more reliable

I would recommend BCM or LMT as a better option at that price point than the Rock River upper.

I never understood the whole Rock River popularity, I get people coming in all the time at the gunshop I loiter at looking for a Rock River Ar15.

I think their popularity stems from the D.E.A. contract that RRA picked up.Makes for decent marketing hype,not to mention they're in every gun rag known to man.

LOL!!!! MY other rifle is a 6920.....the Rock River is a budget build for a christmas present..

The BCM to my knowlege does not come with handguards, charging handle or a bolt. the upper assembly alone before purchasing those part is setting at 525.00

I have used several BCM uppers in the past and yes they are top notch..

For that much get an LMT 10.5 for $485 and be done with it.

Personally, I'd go with a BCM 11.5" - especially if you want a can on it.

Where? Lmt COMPLETE 10.5 uppers are over 600.00 on their website..

For 10" factory barrels I'd recommend Noveske, Colt, LMT and Daniel Defense.

I understand that you appreciate the quality difference but are trying to put together a budget build. But... This is a hard place to get recommendations on the "cheapest"...

And, you are looking at prices for COMPLETE uppers. So the $485 for the LMT with no BCG, CH, and HG is not apples to apples. But, you are going to be @ or near $500 for the RR. For about $640 you can have the LMT complete. Bravo Company is throwing in free HG right now.

Most here see that $140-150 as money well spent. Thats why all the recommendations have been for something other than you asked.

Might I suggest searching for a gently used Colt, LMT, DD, or Noveske 10.5?

Guy's thank you for all the input......

I have been building and using AR platforms for a long time and know all to well the difference in quality between manufactures, what I would use and what I would not use. My personal weapons consist of Colts with Larue/Aimpoint and magpul kit and I spare zero time buying second best, and opinions will vary.

But given a set spending limit that I can not go over I have to deal with what I have...and even that might have to be postponed..

You could also buy a 14.5" / 16" barrel and have it cut to the length you need.
