Does anyone have any info on the LR300. It is a modified direct inpingement
design that has been around a few years. It is now being offered by PARA-ORDNANCE as their PRACTICAL TARGET RIFLE or something like that. Anyone have any experience w/ one ? Thanks

CLHC-Thank you very much, I did try a search before I posted, don't know why I didn't find any of this. I do know PARA DOESN'T OWN ZM, its just a licensing deal for now, I got this info right from AL ZITA himself. Everyone of these I have seen
has run really slick, the receivers don't even get hot until you fire a couple of hundred rounds. They run the cleanest of anything I have seen also.

Here is some more info, including pics. (http://firearmsandtraining.blogspot.com/2009/01/z-m-weapons-lr300-take-down-details.html)

When I first saw them online I thought they were interesting but the price turned me off.

If I owned one I would definitely carry a few extra spring clips.

love the concept.

unfortunately, they haven't gotten the T&E/feedback necessary to debug the idea/system. the price tag is retarded.. easily the biggest marketing mistake they've made is charging twice as much for a weapon requiring half the internal material. i understand making proprietary parts is more expensive, but not $1200 expensive.

until and unless they slash the price, it's just gonna be another gimmic collecting dust on the wall. considering the current owners of the design, that's not likely to happen.. i'm sure they don't even have the desire to increase production capability, so increasing sales probably isn't on the company goal list.

I believe the rights to manufacture the ZM system were recently acquired by Para Ordnance...

I own a ZM LR300. It is my primary 3 gun rifle. When I do decide to clean it, it requires little effort. Usually between matches I clean the chamber and lube the bolt. That's it. Runs like a sewing machine. I have not noticed the theoretical recoil reduction. Be advised that the older systems (like mine) are difficult to outfit with BUIS, as the height of the rail and the front block are not correct for standard sights. I finally gave up and mounted an optic.
Also, mine came with a cool folding stock. It locks up as solid as my FAL Para. I ended up putting a Magpul CTR stock on for comfort. In all, it is one of my favorite rifles. BUT I got a good deal on it. I would not spend the $$$ on a new one, unless I had a lot of disposable cash. Todd Jarrett runs the Para version in 3 gun and is happy with it as far as I know.

Todd Jarrett, I believe, ran the ZM WEAPONS version for 9 years, and other world
class competeters such as Rob Leatham have also.

Those are all scenarios where the gun working or not really doesn't matter because they are playing a game.

XYZ professional shooter doesn't mean shit. Many of these guys are sponsored by companies that make garbage crap just so they can have a pro attached to their product line. Just like every other product.

I wonder how much they'd sell an upper without the stock kit for.

I agree w/ what you are saying but none of these guys were sponsored by ZM,
they were hired pros for other larger companies who made their own decision and
paid for an LR out of pocket. While not life or death their reputations and livelyhood depend on their choices. Todd Jarrett piched the gun to PARA while on their payroll to shoot handguns because he used an LR 300 for 10 years on his own in professional competition. ( 3 gun )

I believe they have upper prices on their website, make sure you are sitting down
before you look.

They have the complete rifle prices on there, don't see upper prices though.

THANKS.

Sounds like you already know all about the ZM/Para.

How are you connected with Para?

In searching your posts, it appears that you are already well versed in the ZM/Para system.

How are you connected with them?

Were I the admin of this site, I'd be checking his IP address.

It does seem like astroturfing is going on, Templar.

I am not in any way connected w/ PARA or ZM, I did stay at a HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS last nite though! Seriously though I can understand your suspicions if I REREAD ALL OF MY POSTS. The truth is I am just trying to pry some practical experience from some people who actually own one of these. I consider the folks on this forum to be some of the most informed and critical of all I have seen. If I SOUND knowledgeable about this rifle it is because I am trying to do my home work before I purchase this very expensive rifle. My apologies if anyone thinks my intentions were otherwise.
