I like it. It looks like a Glock banged a P30. Not enough to get over the incredibly horrible mag release button set up or my hatred for the feel of pistols that have the slide at rest so far back over the hand, but it looks cooler.

Now lets see if they even attempt to market the gun this time around. ;) lol

Also looks like they got rid of the awful bump on the inside of the trigger guard. Always pinched my trigger finger, and I have no idea why HK decided it would be a good idea to copy that when they brought out the HK45.

I am confused by your lack of details about this gun. Is this a new version or what? Based on the photo's title, it appears to be...

Does that look like a P30 to anyone else?

The German-made P99's were pretty good handguns, at least in 9mm. Other than the ridiculous trigger hump on my P99 I really liked the pistol. It was accurate, reliable, compact, and pretty easy to use and shoot. It was limited, however, by the fact that it was a Walther. Parts were unobtanium and someone who was certified to work on them was even more rare, (I never trusted S&W to work on a Walther pistol), hicaps (pre-ban) existed but cost more than P7M13 mags at the time, there weren't a lot of aftermarket sights available, and the number of holster options was very limited.

With better stragegery it could have been what the M&P has turned into.

Now that the M&P exists I don't see much of a point in the P99.

Yep...from the slide serrations (slight forward curve like the P30, approximate same width and pitch, same number), to the contour of the grip below the slide release, to the slide release itself, to the texture and geometry of the grip...

Definitely looks like the offspring of a 2nd gen P99 and a P30. I don't see the decocker on the top of the slide like the previous models had; I'm wondering if this one is DAO or something.

I had a first gen QPQ P99AS that was a pretty good gun, I liked it a lot but sold it because of many of the reasons that JW mentions.

I was getting ready to post the same comment. First thing that came to my mind was "P30."

Well, Hk and Walther are ripping each other off by turns. The p99's focus on ergonomics and replacable back straps has inflenced every serious design since the mid 90s.

Not mine, found it on the net. I believe I'd throw it before I shot it :D

Milipol is a military and police exhibition held in France. Makers of all sorts of gear for the European market bring out new products. Sorry if it wasn't clear, but the P99 shown is a revised model that is new to the market. I just happened to find the gallery online, so I apologize for not having any info for you.

I like it! I'll wait for others to review it first and of course grope one at first opportunity when they hit stores. :D

Looks like an exact copy of the Polish Radom P99.

To be honest, I like it. But then I liked the P99 from the start, it was not perfect but I liked it.

You're completely right. The pistol was spec'ed out by the Polish for their military a couple years back and it looks like only now Walther is offering it to other markets.

I wonder why they waited so long.

A slide release only needs to be so big, and no bigger. If it's too big then I can't find a place to put my thumbs.

I like Walthers, but didn't like that S&W is the only place to get them through. I'm willing to look at this one when it comes over.

Good enough to kill gangbangers and crackheads since its release.
