First let me say I've learned more here in the few shorts months I've been a member than any other dozen sites combined.

Thanks guys for all the info.

Tomorrow I'm buying an Aero Precision stripped lower.

Gonna buy a DPMS lower parts kit and a Geissele Super Semi-Automatic Trigger.

Upper will be either a 16" BCM or LMT.

BCM bolt group.

That's all I have determined so far.

Still looking at FF handguards, kinda like the Troy TRX Extreme.

MagPul stock,

Grip undecided.

Troy looks nice, check out the DD rails too. Grip you can either go stark inds, magpul miad, stock A2, Tangodown, or Ergo.

So I bought the Aero Precision stripped lower today. Actually bought two in case I want to do another build later.

From Brownells:
MAG417-MOE TRIGGER GUARD-BLACK
CTR AR-15 STOCK (MIL SPEC TUBE)

From Bravo Company:
BCM Bolt Carrier Group (MPI) - Auto (IONBOND Finish)
BCMGUNFIGHTER™ Charging Handle with Mod 4 Latch (MEDIUM)
AR15 Lower Parts Kit (semi) DPMS
Stock Hardware Mounting Kit (Mil-Spec) - H Buffer

From Weapons Parts:
Geissele Triggers Super Semi-Automatic Small Pin .154
Troy Rear Folding Battle Sight Black

Total spent on everything today including shipping and just one of the lowers: $846.71

Still trying to decide on the Upper, either BCM or LMT. Leaning hard toward LMT.
Being a 16" carbine I'm not sure if I should get the Mid length or carbine length gas system???
I'll do a quick search on here and see what I can find.

Haven't decided on the handguards yet either.

I think you're going to have an awful hard time trying to find a middy LMT.

OK then what are the pros and cons of using a BCM middy or carbine length gas system?

I don't think there are any cons to using anything with BCM on it. You know you're getting a top notch product, with a top notch company behind it.

The middy offers more rail estate, should you go with a rail system. It allows you to place your hand further out on the HG, if you choose to do so. The recoil impulse is supposed to be smoother, and not quite as hard on moving parts, as opposed to the carbine length gas system.
I don't own a BCM middy, but it will be my next upper, without a doubt.

Looks good for a first time build. My first build sucked in comparison. Is that fiberglass?

Well I think I've decided on an upper group.

All you need for that is a BCM BCG, Gunfighter Charging Handle, Troy buis, and optic of your choice and you're GTG!

I have a Std. BCM 16" Middy with a DD Omega 9.0 on it. Shoots great.

Got the charging handle and Troy BUIS on order.

Gonna have to wait a month or two to order the upper group.

Today I assembled my lower with the parts listed above.

I've never done this before so it was a learning experience.

It only took me 2.5 hours and it passes all the function and safety tests for a lower.

It was so much fun, I want to do it again!!!

I need to get a digiatl camera to take a pic.

Got the BCM 16" middy upper today. Put the Troy rear sight on and put in the BCM bolt carrier group and charging handle.

I just don't like how loose the upper and lower fit together. May have to use an accuwedge to tighten it up.

Hoping to shoot it this week.

I gotta buy a digital camera.

Very nice upper you have. I think you made a great choice there. And it's a blast building your own weapon, isn't it?

May I respectfully recommend you do some research on potential stoppages, before you drop an Accuwedge into your carbine? There have been previous posts about that issue.

Good luck, and go shoot the hell out of it. :)

Did you spend $846 on just the lower?
