Did you know that S&W makes all MP bolts

I just got home from a new gun shop just down the street. I was looking at some of the S&W M&P ARs. I aked if I might look at the BCG. I noted to the salesperson that I was impressed that the bolt was MP marked. He said that all S&W AR bolts are so marked and that S&W makes all the M&P (MP) marked bolts. I did not know that!

I was under the impression that MP meant that the MP-stamped part had been through magnetic particle inspection. My Colt bolt says the same thing.

It does and you are correct. The young gentleman was not up to speed.

Actually, it's my Colt barrel- not my bolt- that is "MP" stamped.

I don't believe that S&W makes any of the bolts they use in the various M&P15 models. They buy them, just like they do many of, maybe even most of, the M&P15parts.
