Buddy, we've got to get you a real pack!

I have got two real packs. That one is my beater.

Say what you will about Alice, she won't blow out when you stuff her full of diving weights. I do not do that to my good ones.

I have a commercial pack and one of the good OD green CFP-90's.

And I put imporved Shoulder Straps and an improved Kidney Pad on that Alice Pack though you can't see them in that pic.

My problem with the ALICE pack was that you had to mod the hell out of it to make it comfortable to wear and useful to load. I still have a Woodland camo CFP-90 in the garage, complete with the Lowe Alpine snaps, not sure who made the later ones. The CFP-90 was a great pack, you could literally load more into it than a man could carry. Have you looked at the early MOLLE packs? They are turning up online dirt cheap.

You really think a MOLLE is better than an ALICE?

I have seen an ALICE upgrade with MOLLE Straps on TOS and saved the info. Looks like a cheap mod and I am tempted to try it.

I think the plastic MOLLE frame give you more options for adding civilian components, straps, waistbelt, etc. if you want. The MOLLE straps and belt were light years ahead of the ALICE components and the setup is lighter. Some of the specialty brand military packs are just out of this world if you have an extra grand laying around!

What are these Lowe Alpine snaps of which you speak?

Best upgrade IMHO is the Alipad from HSGI. Add this to your ALICE kit and see.

All the metal snaps, like the two on suspension retainers, and on the straps are all labeled "Lowe". Lowe Alpine was the original contractor who developed and manufactered the CFP-90.

The picture of the holster makes me wonder, could enough snow/ice enter that Blackhawk holster, freeze up, and prevent drawing that Glock out?

Please feel free to discuss it. I am looking for opinion of those who carry in snow prone areas.

I cleared the holster and cleaned the rear sight once every thirty minutes or so. I also looked the weapon over and decided whether to excersize the action.

I immediately saw a real world use for the point shooting technique Larry Vickers taught me last week.

BTW, I am ditching the Serpa for a Safariland before next summer.

Somewhere around the house I have one of the old M9 Bianchi made nylon flap holsters. I haven't used it in about 15 years. One of these days I need to find it. Such carry, as your little winter escape demonstrates, might be a good use for it. I have no idea what they are going for on the surplus market, you might take a look. I know a G20 will fit in one, so you shouldn't have any trouble with a G17 or G21.

I have a Beretta holster but I have not tried and see if the Glock will fit it yet.

Excellent idea! I've seen the Serpa Taser holsters freeze up with enough sleet and shit introduced into the mechanism.

They are getting popular around here but I quickly got rid of all my Serpa holsters after I had one fail in a training class.
