Here's a couple of pictures of the woodshed. That's a Yamaha P-80 and an Elkhart Bach 37 trumpet worked on a bit by Bob Malone (Bach 1-1/2C mpc with #26 throat usually goes on there).

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w36/ttkt57/woodshed1.jpg

Here's a picture of the Kanstul 1500BB with a virginal harpsichord in the background I built myself back in 1988.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w36/ttkt57/PICT0025.jpg

When I get a chance, I'll add pictures of my Yanigisawa T991 tenor sax, my Yamaha clarinet (it's a pro model but the number escapes me), and my no name flute. A nice wooden alto recorder, a cornet, and a trombone could go in a picture too, along with a bass clarinet and an old non-working bassoon.

You guessed it! I'm a school music teacher.

Great pic! I have an Gibson faded SG back at home that I play through an inexpensive 40w Peavey. I really need to upgrade but my extra dough goes to ammo. I also have a Yamaha keyboard that I try to teach my self on. Ill post pics when I get back home in a few days.

Hey Blackknight.. nice Ibanez rg's, fast necks.. I've never had a chance to try a 7 string, might be fun. . I did notice your blackface princeton, do you know about what year? That was my first real amp, it was hacked into a head with some hippie paisley grill cloth.. wish I still had it, sounded great.

AR15, how do you like your ce22? Mine is a ce24, it plays flawlessly. I got rid of the 5 way and put in an RS Guitarworks kit, pots, cap and switch.. One trick I found out about the switch being oversize for the stock bore. Run the drill in reverse, you won't screw up the top and finish, takes a little longer but cut through very clean.

Yes, I'm certifiable OCD... and my brother should have never let me shoot his AR, that's all it took.. :D

Here is a pic from about 1975.. Probably playing some Humble Pie.. That 68 SG was my first real guitar.. it was stolen by a club owner, found out 2 years later..

Loved everything but the pickups, so I changed them out to the HFS/Vintage pickups on the 24. It made it a whole new beast.

Hey Bill, I was raised in a musical family, dad scored and directed a local philharmonic, a county board music and art director. He played piano, drums, trombone, trumpet, others and oh yes.. bongos too. My half brother plays trombone and piano, classically trained in Chicago. He has a jazz band in Kansas City and did a stint with, I believe, Duke Ellington, for piano a few years ago. I started with alto sax, then when the beatles came along, that changed.. but what really did it for me was Pete Townshend.

AR15, I know there's not much love for the stock prs pups, after I installed the rs kit they work fine for me. So you didn't have the hfs/vintage as stock in the ce22? I had a 59 patent applied for in my LP I picked up in the mid 70s for like $25.. I traded it for the SG a few years ago. both gibbys have duncan 59s and JBs. Seriously though, the cheap crazy looking parker p-38 is one of the best sounding strats I've played, with the stock alnico pups I can pull srv or eric johnson easily (with the tube driver).

Rudedude, rockband? Haven't tried it and would guess I'd be crappy if I did.. :D

In the late 60s, early 70s we had a small neighborhood band.. way too loud for a basement... Marshall stack, 4 standell 2 x 15 powered bass cabs.. hammond with 2 leslies.. really.. fun but stupid. Anyhow, the bass player and good friend, Andy Milton went on to San Francisco and started a pop band with Joe Satriani, The Squares. It didn't fare too well although the music was amazing, Andy moved on with 'The Blackbirds'.

If you like early Beatles, Stones, Who, Everly Bros, Elvis and others in that era.. check out their demo from that day.. Andy played bass and vocals.

http://tinyurl.com/cdpwta

Andy sad to say passed away in the 90s in Vegas from an overdose. I hear from our drummer still from that time. The guys I played with more recent times, 90s, all moved to Nashville.. They are good friends with Phil Keaggy from the 60s and do some projects with him. They are always pushing to get us to move there.. Yea, Nashville needs one more guitarist in the pool..

It actually only took me about a week of playing to adjust technically to the 7 string. After that, it was hard trying to keep up with my brain discovering all the new chords possible. Its actually easier sometimes bc you dont have to shift as much.

As for the Princeton, its a blessing.I havent contacted Fender about a production date yet but i will someday when things slow down. It needs the speaker rebuilt but at room volume, its awesome.

Are those ADA MP1's as cool as people say?Guys like Kirk Hammet,Nuno and John Petrucci always mention them.

The MP1 is pretty cool, dated kind of late 80s, early 90s. Doesn't scoop mids. There are guys that mod them. It's got a nice drive but gets a little buzzy for me if you push it. I haven't used it in quite a while, mostly using tube driver and ocd. The Marshalls love the V-Twin.. I think that's a sleeper. I mostly play in an overdrive range rather than distortion.

I've been tinkering with the Eventide PitchFactor, quite amazing what you can do with that pedal. They applied 10 of their better algorithms into it. All the shifters I've had didn't track well, this one does better than most.

The signal chain I use the most through the marshalls is from the pedal boards to the slp & major (when I need some more.;) out from the slp hot plate into the rack through the graph and tc 300 into the 50/50 9005 tube power amp. Then out to 2 1x12 cabs for time domain effects on both sides of the room. It's a wet/dry/wet setup. Main remains dry, a touch of delays and verbs wash from the sides. I can run all Marshalls at once.. but that is really a stupid idea. I can only take the sound pressure for a few minutes. You can feel your organs moving around.. :D I'm too old for that stuff now.

I'm really digging the AC30CC, maybe someday I'll put some blues in it, but I'm ok as is. I put a weber copper cap ss rectifier in it rather than the stock gz34. They can cause other issues if the rectifier goes. So it lowers the temp a bit and you don't have to worry about that surge if you use the standby.. word is, never use a standby on these.. I'll stop rambling now..

You can date the princeton from the serial here..

Ive wanted to hear my switchblade on a hotplate type device, i couldnt imagine it. i get controllable musical feedback at like 1.5, 8.5 would probaly sound like god coming thru my speakers. I miss my guitars. Ill get to see them in 3 weeks when I take leave .

jmp45
12-07-09, 17:43
I hear ya, that's got to be tough on you guys.. the hot plate is one of the better, safer, attenuators. I just recently sold my scholz power soak, don't waste your money on those, they work but there is quite a bit of loss, purely resistive. You can compensate the loss with the hot plate, the bright & deep switch. I only attenuate -8 db, -12 and -16 is too much. the line out is really useful. Also the noise floor is lowered quite a bit. There are others too that will do the job well.

you could definitely crank the hughes. If you land a hot plate make sure the impedance is matched.

Another Ohio guy from another board, Elliot Meldoy is his handle, started guitars for grunts. He's a straight up guy, has sent many over seas from all the donations.

MisterWilson, is that a dual reverb? Too bad you had to let it go.. I've regretted just about everything that slipped out the door. Never played an esp, I'm not sure that one is much lighter than a 61 sg. My 61 reissue's about the same. You have to be careful with neck, it moves with little tension, but one of the fastest necks I've played. I had to level the frets twice to get the action right and buzz out.

That's a beauty Bill... So a jazz player?More a biker bar blues player, really. I don't have the chops to play real jazz. My heroes are Sonny Rollins, Pete Christlieb, and Scott Hamilton, if that helps, but my own playing compared to theirs is like Dr. Suess compared to J. R. R. Tolkien.

That's an old school Arbans! Mine has a red cover, I think I've cracked it 1 time in the last 15 years :(There are two sides to a trumpeter’s personality:
there is the one that lives only to lay waste to the woodwinds and strings, leaving them lying blue and lifeless along the swath of destruction that is a trumpeter’s fury. Then there’s the Dark Side.

I don't believe it was a dual reverb model. It was an odd thing, the two channels were only separated by level - loud & louder, no tonal differences.

It made me appreciate tubes but if I could do it all over again, I'd be more than willing to "settle" for a 2x12 rig of some sort. Crate made that one series that wasn't branded as "Crate" at ALL...Gold lettering...Vtwin maybe?. That little SOB was smoking.

I haven't heard the V series, but I think Billy Gibbons may have used them on a tour. It's not a bad amp by any means from reports I've heard.

I really like my Vox AC30CC, throw a bad monkey in front of it and you're good to go. I have a ep-3 echo plex in the loop and it just sounds perfect with that amp. There's so many ways to go with it tone wise, pretty flexible.

If you are looking for something low power and tone Vox is getting some kudos for their Night Train. I've heard some of the guys on another board compare to their AC30s. Looks like a toaster. With a 1x12 cab it might be worth a spin.

http://www.voxamps.com/us/modernclassic/nighttrain/

Telecustom, that is one nice collection of gibby hollowbodies..

I have an Orange Tiny Terror with a 1x12 cab with a warehouse speaker v30 clone. That's a great little amp also.

Just acquired an Industrial Amps Blues 60, incredibly dynamic. Mercury Magnets transformers, point to point, etc. It's a boutique build, not mass produced.. Quite loud too. I'm pretty excited about this amp, thought I'd share.

I wish I still had pics of my rack and keyboard stands etc from when I was young and single. (Not that I could play live worth crap but was doing composition on the computer). (This was late 80s to around 1990)

Roland D-50
Kawaii K-5
Roland R-8
Kurzweil PX-1000
Yamaha TX-16W
Oberheim Matrix 1000
some reverb/fx units
Roland 16 channel mixer

and some stuff I have totally forgotten about. Had a Roland D-110 rack unit for a while, and some other stuff.

Now, all I have is an M-Audio 49 key midi controller, Garageband, and my Mac. I also have some sort of simple Yamaha midi sound box from the mid 90s in a box somewhere :-(

And I have two basses that I never play. Nice ones too. I will snap some pics of them some day. Some day when the kids get older I can relearn how to play them.

I'm mostly a bass player, but I dink a little on guitar too. (I suck on both.) Not many pics of my gear, but here's a few:

My pair of Rickenbackers (a 650D and a 660-12)

My EBMM Bongo 5H, which is my main active bass

And my Fender Precision 5, my main passive bass

I have a fair amount more, but no pics.

Nice Ricks HD. I tried to warm up to their 12 strings but the necks are a little too narrow for me.

Thanks!

Have you ever tried a 660-12 like mine? The neck is substantially wider than on the typical Ric 12. It's basically a production version of the old Tom Petty sig model. And the chime!

I'm the same way, I can't play narrow 12s... and the 330-12/360-12/620-12 are about as narrow as you can get.

I think it was a 330, been a few years. I don't see too many Ricks in my area.

You don't even see too many around here, and I'm near the big Chicago market! My 650D came from MF years ago, and my 660-12 from Dave's in LaCrosse when he came to a local guitar show. I asked him to bring it along so I could check it out... big mistake.

There's something about a Ric 12 that you just can't get from any other guitar. I find myself playing a lot of Petty every time I pick it up!
