Good looking gun! I ordered a CZ75 SP-01 last year while in Iraq and when I got home and finally got the dealer to ship the thing, they ended up sending me a SP-01 Tactical. Still haven't fired a round through it until I make up my mind on whether I can live with the decocker instead of the safety. One of the more ergonomic guns (for me) that I've ever handled.

Seriously though, after all I hear about CZ here, and what I've seen/read elsewhere, I might have to give one a try.

Nice purchase!

CZ's are really hard to beat for the money spent.

I love my CZ 75B. Most ergonomic gun I've shot other than a 1911. Very, very accurate too. I would not hesitate to use if for any type of serious social work, but I've got a G 17 for that.

Very nice! I've been toying with the idea of picking up a CZ SP-01 for IDPA and I may have to do something similar this holiday season.

enjoy the new pistol and let us know how it performs.

can you snap a pic of the trigger with the hammer back, I'm interested to see what the trigger reach is.

I have small fingers and the std CZ was a bit too far for me on double action.

Thanks for the kind words everybody. :D

.......let us know how it performs.

A quick range trip for the first 100 rounds went almost flawlessly. Ammo was 115 gr. PMC.

The first 70-80 rounds were shot both hands with an IPSC-style high-thumbs hold, and with zero malfunctions. Drawn from timer beep, I was handily putting double taps into the zero-points-down portion of IDPA targets at 10 yards, with each two-shot string followed immediately by a third to the head. Handling sure beat the G19 I've been mostly shooting for the past 3 years.

On the last couple of mags I began some strong- and weak-hand shooting, during which there were 2-3 failures to feed. Most one-handed shots were fine, and several additional two-hand shots from these mag-fulls were again flawless.

I consider limp wristing as an "explanation" for jams to be generally bogus. Given the overall picture in this case though, I'm hoping that might actually be what's happening. More importantly, I hope the effect will disappear given another couple 100 rounds. Two standard 75B's I previously owned ran perfectly.

Or, are there any relevant aspects of PMC ammo that I'm unaware of?

For the same reason, I was fully unable to shoot my two standard 75B's in double action mode . There is no such issue with the SA model. If you can shoot a 1911, you're in (plus the 1911-ish grip tang is a lot more comfortable than the standard 75B).

Nice gun. I have been using a SA CZ 75 in IDPA competition for about five years. There is a lot of support from the factory and on the net with the competition forums. I have shot mine a lot over the years, wearing out one sear and a lot of mag springs. Only malfuctions that I have experienced have been when I experimented with lower weight recoil springs and hard Wolf primers. A few years ago I replaced the extractor spring with a Wolff XP unit, just for insurance. Keep it well lubed and it will function.

Love mine with thin aluminum grips. I need to get an action job asap though.

A thousand pardons -- it was not PMC but UMC, but I have discovered with some "relevant aspects".

I obtained a few boxes of WWB, and found them to have an overall length of about 1.157" (to right in pic below), versus the UMC of 1.099" (to left). That's 0.058" longer. The WWB is also very close in length to the ammo I used to produce back when I was reloading.

Another range trip was made yesterday with both ammos. The UMC had two FTF among 50 rounds, whereas an equal number of WWB were flawless. So, the gun seems to be a little sensitive to overly short cartridges. I will be using WWB or ammo having similar length from now on.

I also used to have a Vertec, which I foolishly sold and now sorely miss. Moreover, Beretta has sinced dropped that model. Whether you ever get a CZ or any other gun, never consider parting with your Vertec.

Recently picked up a Galco Combat Master for the new CZ. It joins quite old but greatly mojo'd Galco mag pouch and Bianchi B8 belt.

Oh, and no further FTF's once I switched to WWB ammo.

It's a wonderful eastern European gun, but I was a bit disappointed by the stock single action trigger. It was a bit unrealistic for me to expect a 1911-esque trigger pull. The long hammer hooks produced a lot of creep before breaking. I tried polishing the sear and hammer hooks to no avail. I know competition hammers with shorter hooks are available, and I've read that competent gunsmithing or a lot lead of downrange can do wonders for CZ's. It just wasn't a relationship that I wanted to invest in at the time. Quickly sold it, and got a Glock 19.

Nice pics, they look sweet on the new monitor I got for Christmas.

I like my CZ SP-01 Tactical, its a great shooter. Kinda wish I had waited for a regular SP-01, not crazy bout the double action first shot. But its very accurate, even with me shooting it. I really want a CZ85 with ambi slide release since Im left handed.
I hadnt had any probs with ammo, (~500rds)shooting mostly UMC, Blazer Brass, and some WWB, then I tried shooting some Blazer Alum (~115rds) at Todds Aim Fast Hit Fast class and had multiple stovepipes. I had some UMC, and used that for the FAST drill, then I put it back in the truck and finished the class with the XD.
I tried some more Blazer Alum in the CZ at home after the class, 68rds I had 3 more stovepipes. I then loaded some S&B brass, fired 84 rounds no probs.
So no more Blazer Alum for my CZ.

Thanks for the nice pics.

Out-of-box won't equal a high-quality 1911 trigger, but you're right that a little work in the right place can put it in the same league. Right now, I'm just enjoying it as-is with the improvement in trigger from my......

.......Glock 19 that the new CZ is putting on indefinite leave. :D I think even the out-of-box CZ trigger is less creepy than any Glock I've ever owned.

That's old school cool.

I just didn't feel right putting a traditionally designed and styled, full-sized, all-steel pistol into kydex. Glocks, M&P's, etc. sure, but this gun just cries out for the good old leather (plus I already had the belt and mag pouch). Shall be put to good use during the coming year's IDPA matches.

Love my CZ75BD. It is very accurate and you will love it. At $300 I should have bought two but didn't know anything about them at the time. MecGar mags are the same as factory and work very well. I bought it as a training gun when 9mm was .12 a round. Have fun.

One other thing, the trigger will get better over time, don't change anything until you get a few k through the pistol.
