I hate to admit it, but it's getting to the point that I like dogs better than I like most people. It's also pretty sad with all the time I'm going to have sitting in front of the computer. I have a torn meniscus in my right knee and was told to stay off of it until my appointment with the orthopedic surgeon Mon.

Yes, thanks but mine are not guard dogs just household pets that think they're guard dogs! I'm sure you can appreciate that.

So are all the labradors and lapdogs in that post, very few of them in that post are police trained or actual "gaurd dogs", most are living room hair balls that the kids chase around. The title of that thread is tongue-in-cheek.

I adore them. My dad has always wanted a German Shepherd. He mentioned it just yesterday and I have a friend who has working strain Belgian Malinois pups...

I've been that way for so long, I don't even hate to admit it.

You might be surprised at the level of "guard dog" that many Labs provide. My current Labs have less then 6 months (one only needed 3) of professional training, but I promise you that they guard my family. They are very friendly, but also very protective by nature. My Choc also herds, and is very reluctant to allow a stranger in between my kids and anybody that he doesn't know.

He was never trained to keep the kids away from the street, but for years when my girls were younger, he wouldn't allow them near it. It's pretty funny to watch a moving wall.

Here is a pic of him dying to go get in front of my youngest a couple years ago. You can see he is holding his command but his eyes are dialed in on his protection detail. This was before we were going to go play in the snow in the truck, he loves shotgun and driving through the snow and catching flakes with his tongue...:D
