Putting one on order after seeing what a guy at work is doing to hogs with it when hunting, just wonder if anybody else here has one? From my range time and seeing the damage that it does to cars and hogs, this is one awesome shoulder mounted cannon.
wife shot a 1600lb water bufflalo with mine

Really? What range? Any pictures?!

FWIW imo,
I used one hunting Al Qaeda / Taliban in Astan. There are FAR better calibers to use hunting humans, Pigs, Boar, Deer etc. & work a lot BETTER.
YMMV

I don't have any experience with the beowulf.. but, I can say that the 6.8 does wonders on feral hogs!

I have one. I got it to hunt Russian Boar, but I havn't used it anywhere but the range. It broke the Samson front sight I put on it after about 50 rds.
ive seen 3 pigs shot with the beo and 2 with a 6.8 and theres no doubt in my mind that the beo puts more of a hurt on them. I have no doubt the 6.8 is plenty of gun for it and maybe a bit better out past about 150 yards but at close range id take the beo anyday for any hunting purpose either could be used for.

I agree, mostly given the price of the brass and lead to reload that round. Was also considering a .308, any advice?

Check.
I have some ideas & opinions (REPR, FAL's, AR10's etc.) BUT, I'm waiting for the SCAR 17 to be released soon.
Stand by.
ive got an ar10 and it obvoiously does great on any big game but its on the heavy side to carry around all day. Even my beo is a bit on the heavy side. Ive been fooling with a bushmaster in 762x 39 for a couple months and i think it will eventually become my main hunting ar. Ive got to ask who you worked for that used the beo on the taliban. I know some private security agencys used them but i was told nobody in our military has used one over there to kill someone.

At that specific time I'm referring to it was a PMC.
sorry i dont know the lingo. I was in nam and that was a long time ago. What is PMC. Im not trying to call you out or anything i just am kind of into the beo and am curious to the differnt ways it was used and why you seem to think it didnt do the job.

nice to see a wulf in action
i've heard that the wulf has been issued and used in the sandbox as a car stopper.i didn't know it was actually used on bad guy's.as much as i love my wulf if i was in that situation i think i would rather have a lighter weight ar with a higher capacity mag.but if i wanted to stop a vehicle or shoot through a wall then i would rather have the wulf
the 50 beowulf is a nice caliber but i think i would look at a different cartridge for hunting.now if your looking for a caliber that will fit in the ar-15 platform that is more fun than a barrel of monkeys to send some down the pipe the beowulf is it.my wulf is my favorite ar to take out plinking, even with the cost of ammo :D
Like i said in my earlier post it puts a hurt on hogs. Personaly i think it makes a hell of a hunting gun if you keep the ranges short. Ive rarely needed a shot over a 100 yards on deer bear or pigs. If you need to shoot farther its because your to lazy to stalk.
They made it for the coast guard air crews years ago dubbed .499 we had very bad issues with them did they fix this problem? FTF FTE
How's the bolt life of the .50 Beo? Has anyone actually shot more than 500-1000rds of full power stuff through a single bolt?

i think your thinking of the LW .499
mines got about 2000 rounds through it and my buddys has probably twice that now and no problems whatsoever with either gun. My gun has had the ejector replaced but it really wasnt needed just routine upgrade.
