God I love that car.

What are the specifics behind this one... first unit, second unit, restoration, or conversion?

What was the motor?

Awesome! I can't tell you how many times I tried to paint our lawn mower orange and jump it in our back yard!

I don't know, I didn't get a chance to really talk to the owner except to ask him if I could take a pic. Really wish I had though.

Yes, they have a show each year at the Atlanta Motor Speedway of nothing but the cars, jeeps, vehicles, and actors, actresses off of the set for the show. I saw video of some of the cars jumping ramps and laughed my head off, most did not survive.

Not so! The actor that played Cooter the mechanic on the TV show used to (may still, I'm not sure) own a roadside gift shop in Sperryville, VA & would park one of the cars from the show out front to get people to stop. Somewhere I have a picture of my kids standing by it.

Having grown up in the area where Smokey and the Bandit was filmed (Clayton county{Jonesboro, Ga}) back in the mid '80's I spent my misguided teen hot-rod years running around on the same streets. ;)

Here are a couple of cool sites fo those fans of "then and now" type of pics:

Smokey and the Bandit:

Dukes:

I used to live in L.A. and happened to visit the studio where Dukes was filmed. They had a whole lot filled with General Lees in various conditions. Some looked fine, some had the windshields or the sides removed for filming the actors inside the cars and many of them were wrecked :D

I read somewhere, they did in 2-3 cars per episode for Dukes of Hazard...

That's a lot of wrecking and rebuilding...

There is a Harley Davidson Dealership in Wisconsin that has a car museum as well. They have at least one if not more there. Seeing a fullsized on on a post outfront is what got me to stop. Some really nice cars there.

I used to watch that show as a kid, and liked it. Now as an adult, Mopar fan, it makes me sick to realize how much that show depleted the number of '69 Chargers that are left in the world today.

Not Daisy, and not sure if he is still around, but just before you hit one of the northern entrances to the SKyline Drive in NW Virginia, "Cuddar" lived and had his Gen Lee out for everylone to see.

You should see some of the creations here in Florida. Someone that works at the local Wal-Mart has a Dodge Ramcharger they attempted to make look like the General Lee. Looks like the General's chase vehicle that's seem better days.
