I want to get at least one .22L kit for an AR (Charles Daly DM-4) for me and my son to be able to shoot more often (less $$). I think that after doing some reading the CMMG (spelling?) at first had quality issues with splitting down the seam of the fixed case, but has been addressed and is now considered one of the better .22L drop in kits. I had seen folks talking about them before with prices ranging from $165 to $230 and with 1 single .22L mag and others talking about kits with 2 or 3 magazines.
Who has (CMMG, Ciener, anyone?), or where is the best deal/package for a somewhat reliable .22L drop in conversions with a couple magazines?
This of course would not be for defense of life and property! This is for me to afford to shoot a little more often with my boy. He has a Ruger 10/22, and he always has gun envy because I shoot the bigger stuff, so if I take and knock the AR back to his caliber, we should be able to use his 10/22 and not have him burning up $150-$200 of .223 or 7.62 every other weekend! He's driving me broke! I don't make enough cash to cover $400 a month in ammo, no way.
I had borrowed a CMMG drop in .22L from a buddy that ordered it from a website for $240 with one magazine. I used it and had good luck with it. It was fun. I was not counting dollars off with each hit of the trigger!!!
This is what I borrowed:
