Well, I finally got out to the range today to zero in my new ACOG and see how my new AR works.
I made a low profile Gas block out of the full size unit for this AR so I could add the full size rail, everything else is my trusty old Bushmaster 16" HBAR that has 14K rds thru it, along with a new CTR stock and an almost new TA-11D on a LaRue QD mount.
The trigger is stock
Ammo used thru out was Radway 62.gr The last lot that AIM had
running thru a 1/9 twist 16"HBAR with 14K rds thru it.
All zeroing was off the bench using a Bipod.

I decided to zero at 25Yds first to get on paper
After I got close on an ACOG zeroing tgt, I ran 10 rds thru a standard 25M M4 Carbine zeroing tgt and here is the results

So now I put my zero tgts out to 100 yds to do the final zero. I used an ACOG zeroing target as it works quite nicely with the triangle reticle I have in the TA-11D.
Heres a 10 rd group at 100 yds

That pretty much works for me.
I preceded to blast some clay birds that I arranged up on the berm at 100 yds and they were no problem to hit of the bench with the ACOG.
I also did some in close drills to use the BAC and again, it worked very well for me. As I am an Aimpoint shooter, using both eyes open comes pretty easy. Speed for me was pretty equal to my Aimpoint in these conditions.
I ran 150 rds of this Radway 62.grain surplus thru the gun and not a hiccup.
So for me.. the moral of the story is don't get wrapped around the axle in what is the perfect twist, or what ammo should I use, or when should you change your barrel. or which after-market trigger is the best, etc, etc, etc.
Heres a 13 yr old gun with what I figure is an above average rd count compared to the average shooter, using surplus ammo and a stock trigger and it still does a very nice job and will continue to serve me well.
