I got a good price on a used TA 33 R9. I have a TA 33 R8 on my Noveske and love it so I wanted one for my AR10 carbine as well. I also put a Primary arms T1 clone on but that was after the range session. It was in my box at the post office. I will sight in and review the clone red dot tomorrow.

Today I was very pleased with the TA 33. The eye relief is shorter than I like but it worked when I mounted it all the way back as far as possible. I took off my BUIS but I did add a back up optic. After sighting the gun in I shot a few groups at 100 yards. It averaged 2.4 at 100 yards with my reloads using 168 grain Sierra Match bullets. Not great but acceptable for what this gun is. A skinny barreled .308.

Towards the end of the day I ran the gun on a drill that involved shooting a target at 20 yards, 40 yards and 60 yards. The targets were spaced about 20 yards apart. I shot two in the body on each target and then shot two in each head on the way back. The 10 moved me a round a bit but I managed to do ok. My times averaged about 19 seconds with mostly A hits. I did have a miss on my first run.

What I really like about this ACOG is the light weight and the ease at which you can shoot it quickly even up close despite the 3x magnification. The scope allows a large field of view around the scope when shooting with both eyes open. I plan on doing more to this gun. I want to get a free float rail system that is 12 inches long. I want to cut the barrel back to 13.7 and permanently attached the Pig to bring it back up to 16 inches.

I will sight in the red dot tomorrow and see how it holds up.
