View Full Version : A very tactical A-TEAM

I was a little worried when I initially heard about an A-Team remake, but the promo shots are interesting. Hannibal (Liam Neeson) has an interesting CCW rig (brown yaqui style 1911 holster & 2 single mag pouches) and some form of chest rig. While Face (Bradley Cooper) has some generic nylon gear. I'm definitely digging the magpul accessorized AR's and possible TAD GEAR hoodie.

Does anyone know who is doing the consulting on this film?? Travis or Chris?

doesn't look like it, just looks like one of the new XPS models which are considerably smaller.

What the hell is this crap? The A-Team uses Ruger AC556's, not M4's.

Next they're going to tell me the van went from this;

Liam Nesson is a good actor, I dont see what the problems there are. Kingdom of Heaven, Taken, he was damn good in.

ToddG
01-15-10, 10:41
Liam as Hannibal.
Quinton Jackson as B.A. Baracus.
The dude from District 9 as Murdock.
The dude from Hangover for Faceman.

I hate it when a plan doesn't come together.

Lee Indy

i like liam in taken and one of my favorites movies is rob roy........ but as hannibal i think its not in his scope to live up to the original. that being said im prolly one of the biggest fans of the Ateam ever. ive got everyone of the episodes and watch them regularly. i think the guy from hangover might be a good face but his verbal fu might be a bit lacking.

Oh, and we like Taken. You guys have no idea the problem we have with various Eastern European Mafias here in Europe. And then they get *&^%$£" human rights and you can't hassle them.

True if you confine yourself to blockbuster-type movies but that's a slim percentage of all the movies released every year. If you venture out a little further than that there are lots of great movies released every year.

But I'm looking forward to this one to satisfy my "pointless entertainment involving firearms" quota.

The van is still the van in the trailer, but it is not the A-Team without their Rugers. I understand why the original actors could not be used. They are way to old today, but at least keep some of the icons of the show.

They should have just used the same concept but called it something different.

that was one of the best parts of the show. watching them try to miss on full auto. talk about spray and pray. they couldnt hit the broad side of a barn while standing in the barn

IIRC they did use M16s in the very beginning of the series.....first episode or two. Of course it was my favorite show as a kid. We'll see if the remake lives up to my memories.....however unlikely that is. Most shows I loved as a kid, I try to watch as reruns......are just really lame now.

George Peppard (Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith) died 08 May 1994 but the other actors are all still alive.

I'm just glad they ditched the F&%$ING Mini-14! When I first saw the trailer I was pretty impresssed.

The best part for me is they kept the same GMC van!

Don't worry Fellers..having the on screen Icons of your childhood bastardized for shameless modern commercial gain just smarts at first..you get over it...after a while..James Bond went from cool as ice MoFo Sean Connery to that gay twat Timothy Dalton and the not much better Pierce Brosnan (Remington Steele's how I always remember him), his Classic British Aston became a BMW, The PPK became an HK, his Boss became a woman, Q became Basil Fawlty, he went from shooting the badguy on the beach with his speargun in Thunderball to a cheesy faggy splashing in the water scene with a pair of nut-hugging spandex trunks that were off the chart on the Gay-O-Meter in 'Casino Royale'...

That being said..I like Daniel Craig as Bond..the new incarnation of Bond's character since Albert Broccoli's death is much more like the Cold blooded killer of Flemings novels....

I like Liam Nieson as well....Great actor..not sure he'd have been my choice to replace George Peppard..but heh...It'll be better than anything my wife makes me watch....:D

Real nice muzzle control by "Face"

Actually there is absolutely no way you can truly assertain where the muzzle is pointed in that picture. Perspective plays havoc in imagery. I will say that the muzzle is well clear of anyone in the picture. I actually seems to be pointed in a more forward direction and that means he is not flagging Nieson.

Wow, I'm impressed by all the babies belly aching about a movie they haven't seen. Particularly silly is all the babies crying about Liam Neeson without mentioning any alternatives they would prefer. Any legitimate complaints, or is nostalgic nonsense the only factor at play here?

You are spot on about his Bond being more like Flemings cold blooded killer! All the rest just made Bond out to be a Martini drinking man whore and focused on a bunch of high tech gizmos. Maybe it's because I'm blonde and blue eyed but Daniel Craig is IMO the most accurate portrayal of what James Bond is supposed to be. :D

I think Liam Nesson will make a great Hannibal Smith, I have not seen him in a movie I haven't liked.

OK let's be real here.....We're babies for making fun of a movie that will probably be about as gay as "The Last Starfighter"??.. Really?!

Incidentally I would pick... Umm..Let me see...George Clooney.....Tom Berenger....Harrison Ford...instead of Liam Neeson..and I like Liam Neeson....an Irishman or a Scotsman faking a bad american accent doesn't really lend itself to a great movie experience...at least for me...It's about synonymous to "Elijah Wood" playing a hard as nails London soccer hooligan in another gay-ass movie that could have been good.."Green Street Hooligans"...I was born and raised in London and went to the soccer games every saturday when could......Ummmm..OK....OhNo!!...Frodo Baggins is kicking the shite out of me!!!

I love all of the comments about muzzle discipline and such. Anyone that has ever put ammo downrange in real environments know that you attempt to control muzzle sweeps 100%, but it doesn't always work. That is where trigger control comes in.

Well God Father, you unfortunately couldn't be more right. The "Hollwood Tards" as Mr. El Mac calls them are even re-making the 80's movie RED DAWN that was originally cast with Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen. Scheduled for release in 2012.

I saw a note about it on moviephone.com a week or two ago. It seems these guys are completely out of new ideas.

Who knows maybe the A-Team movie won't be that bad. The trailer reminds of of another movie that was released a few weeks ago: the LOSERS. I thought the movie was entertaining it should be out on DVD in a month or two.

Don't forget about the Expendables coming out in August...it's the summer's third "Guy's On A Mission" flick but this one has the largest action cast ever assembled. Stallone, Willis, Swartzanagger, Li, Statham, Rourke, Lundgren, Austin, Couture,... Studios have insiders in their rivals and they all come out with similar movies at the same time. Remember Tombstone and Wyatt Earp?

UUM . . . uuuhmm . . . . . not all of us - only the crowd that ended up in Rhodesia, working with the Selous Scouts . . .or the bunch that almost took over Angola, having a braai (bbq) on the outskirts of Luanda . . :D

but, back on topic - I like the cast and a fun action remake not requiring much mental gymnastic to fathom, I consider this a good remake of one of my favorite TV series that we were even able to see back in SA many years ago. Back then, we thought the Americans were crazy :D

Lots of movies come out in pairs. I first noticed it with "Antz" and "A Bug's Life" but have found lots of examples of it over time.
