What environment was each color created for? Is OD an outdated color, or is it still a useful camo color is certain situations?

Discuss your opinions on the usefulness of each.

I guess my opinion is that in leafy green areas, OD would suit well. Foliage (how do I change the title) might work well in desert vegetation/baja areas.

OD is definitely not outdated. Works best in heavily forested areas.

Moving this to gear section.

Spending time in the woods, etc, I feel the lighter shades of brown are the most usefull.

Alot of the darker colors, some greens just look like dark blobs, etc and really stand out.

Of course, alot depends on where you are, early season, late season, etc.

I will say this-on he last Precision rifle course I worked with-the two guys I couldn't find wore Multicam. They had skill to boot, but no more than the others. Very effective in my opinion.

I could be wrong, a long time ago(maybe 15 years)I remember seeing an odd color at London Bridge Trading, The owner told me it was fo the AirForce, Smoke Gray was the color, first time I ever saw anything like it and it was close to what is Foilage Green now.

Never used it, but I always thought that FDE was too light to use in norther forests (Ohio for me). It makes sense to me, though that a brown would be more useful. Would work in any season save for heavy snow.

I guess I feel the need for a gray brown - like a brown to FDE that foliage is to OD. I can't get a good read on LaRue's UDE - some pictures seem gray, some seem grayish tan.

Natural gear seems to be on the right track

but they don't make AR accessories.

late season here in Va, the old three color desert works well, cheap to!

So many of those pics are staged and matched perfectly with the clothng. Same as people, animals know what belongs and what doesn't. That shape wasn't there before or it just moved, that shade of green is odd by that bush, etc.

If we are talking weapons or gear, it's best to start light and darken and/or match with local stuff.
