View Full Version : Q:Daniel Defense OMEGA-X 12.0 FSP Rail
Is anyone running a Daniel Defense OMEGA-X 12.0 FSP Rail? If so, what do you think and can you please post some pics?
I was looking at one earlier this year but the cost was a bit out of range at the time but I found a deal on one and I'm thinking about picking one up but I'm curious if you think that it's too long on a 16" gun.....
Thanks.

Here's my Daniel Defense M4. It is not too long, in fact it really makes it easier to use a carbine length 16" barrel rifle because I can mount my VFG or place my weak hand further out. The rail past the FSP is also great for mounting lights, such as my TLR-2. If you found a deal, get it! The DD Omega rails are strong, well built, and light.
I'm running the Troy MRF-CX which is the same length. It's the perfect length for a 16" carbine. I have long arms so my grip lands underneath the FSP. Not possible with the 7" rails. Plus I can mount my light in front of the FSP. Add the Magpul AFG and now it feels even better.
My DDM4 with AFG, TLR-1, and LT-707 with surefire G2Led.
I like the extended rail, an aquaintenance of mine is waiting for the omega X 7.0 to become available to swap out his 12X

I got one in the last big Bravo company sale. Very impressed with the Omega X 12 FSP rail system, and I was a little dubious going in, as I had only owned DD's drop-in rails before. After living with and shooting it for a month, have to say that every bit of it is better than I thought - I like how slim it is, how very sturdy and rigid, how easy it is to remove the rails themselves, and I like the rail space ahead of the front sight base, as well as the ability to mount my AFG out further.

No complaints, though I will probably use panels next time instead of ladders, but that's no reflection on the rail, just on which rail covers I prefer.

That's where I saw it.... I looked at one earlier this year but I couldn't afford the $350 they were going for but not they are within the budget....
Thanks.

They turned out to be an even more awesome deal on that complete DDM4 upper. :D
Here's my DD upper with the 12" Omega X. I like it so far, but there is a very slight (maybe ".001-.003") play rotating about the barrel. It doesn't bother me, but I figured I'd mention it.

Results still pending as far as "usage" goes (waiting on lower)...
on sale right now at bravo co website..go get them !
Haven't had the chance to do much more than shoot a couple of mags thru my DDXV with the 12.0 FSP-X rail on it, but REALLY like it so far. Obligatory pictures...(btw, I have since moved the G2 to the right side of the rail...)

I'm a big fan of mine, lets me run my support hand out pretty far on the rail while running an x300 at 12:00.

How many others guys have this issue with slight play or wobble in theirs? And how difficult is it to instal. I have an LMT that I have been considering this rail?

I don't know the exact size but take a small allen key to the 4 screws where the rail bolts onto the barrel nut and tighten them down. Mine was a little loose when I first got it but is now rock solid after tightening the screws down. My rifle comes with the rail installed of course so I couldn't tell you the difficulty of installation.

None on mine - I just tried to wiggle it, and it won't budge. Honestly, if my DD rail had any wiggle, I would call Daniel Defense, because I doubt that's the norm.

Sounds like a plan - I'll take a look at it.

Anyone else get the feeling Daniel Defense might be trying to lower inventory before releasing something at SHOT? It seems there are a few specific models that have been on a deep discount sale lately...

are you sure it isn't movement between the receivers?
Great stuff, thank you for the feedback. I ordered one this afternoon and I can't wait to get it on my rifle. I'll post pics when it's all put back together.
