I am looking at getting a Pelican case for my M4. The problem is I can't seen to find a good price on one. I have looked at different sites and on Ebay, but do not want to pay $180 and up plus shipping for it. Ant suggestions.

that's about what they cost, try craigslist, our search the tactical gear forum here

Your best bet would be to keep checking various forum classifieds section. Post up a few WTB threads with specifics on what you are looking for and where you are located.

I did this about a year ago and found the Pelican case that I wanted slightly used at a great price and local so no shipping charges.

Try looking at Hardigg-Storm cases... Just as good as Pelican and less $$ I've found.

Depending on were you live a DIVE SHOP might have one for you. We used to stock quite a bit of Pelican cases at mine, and if a customer wanted one that we did not have in stock but Pelican offered, we could very easily order that one in, with no shipping cost to the customer.

I have found the Pelican 1700 (http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1700) to be the right size for the AR carbine. The Hardigg im3100 (http://www.stormcase.com/StormCaseSizes/StormiM3100.htm) is the closest approximation. I can find the Pelican for $140-150 with foam an the Hardigg for $175 with foam.

However, I think that hard cases in general are a waste of money unless you are flying. I have had my Pelican 1700 for at least 4 or 5 years and it has never left the house.

I have a blue version of the Eagle Discreet Case M4/ CAR15 (http://www.eagleindustries.com/product.php?productid=358&cat=67&page=1) that goes with me to the range every single time.

I would agree with looking for the Storm Cases. They are owned by Pelican but have better handles and latches.

Thanks for the info. I will try craigslist and see if there is one on it. Some of the sites that I have looked at have a good price but it does not come with foam and to add the foam is another $30 to $40.

I have all my gear in hard cases. The Storm latches are WAY better.

Ditto on Storm latches.

I perfer Storm Cases in general, but Pelican seems to own the smaller sealed case dept(IMHO)

I bought one Pelican through Botach a few years back and the other from eBay. I paid significantly less than MSRP.

I bought mine from Optics Planet and got a good deal and great service. It was listed on E-bay with a "Best Offer" option, which they accepted.

I have both, and much prefer the Hardigg-Storm case.

I have two cases, an SBK Military Roto case and a Hardigg Storm Case.

I bought the SBK case first and it was too big for what I needed so I bought the Storm case.

The SBK case is the nicest I have ever seen, including Pelican cases I have seen and used.

I ended up buying a Storm case from DSG as it was a good deal on a good case.

If interested I have the SBK for sale.

I got my last Pelican case from Beam Distributing at a fair price with free shipping. Here's the 1700:

This place seems to be a good source for foam. I have not placed an order yet.

Call him or email him and tell him what you want. He sells scuffed cases, or ones they used for photo shoots, or ones where they have no boxes for.

Models available...with prices. Shipping is pretty cheap, like $15 or something like that.

iM2100 - 40.50
iM2950 - 137.00
iM3100 - 129.50
iM3200 - 149.10
iM3300 - 164.00

Make sure to tell him you want the foam.

keep looking they pop up from time to time

Also consider a smaller case. You can take apart the upper and lower to store it in a smaller less expensive case.
