Anyone have any information on the photos on Nighthawks website showing Chris Costa and Travis Haley with a Nighthawk Predator?

That's kind of weird. Obviously, they are shooting the guns, but MD doesn't have '1911' classes that I have seen. In our handgun class, they only shot glocks and M&Ps. The only 1911 they shot was a students SA(?). In the videos I've seen the 1911s they shot were from Kimber on Warrior frames? (Not that familiar with Kimber and it has been a while, and only once, that I sat thru the credits for AOTTC II.)

Nice looking guns. I must have one now ;)

On TOS, here's what Costa said in reference to another question about a holster. It's in the Magpul industry section...(Look for Costa + Holster in the title and you'll find it...)

Yeah that is an old photo, man it's like watching bad porn. The holster we now run are from Raven Concealment and they are great for exactly that. Our training holster is like are concealment holster so were always working on our concealment draw every class we teach. Note, there is nothing wrong with Bladetech I used it for many years, I just wanted one consistent draw all the time.

Currently we do shoot the M&P 9mm as our factory gun which was a great move, nothing against Glock, I would take one into battle any day, but they got stagnate. The ergonomics in the M&P are great, the extra metal in the frame helps control felt recoil. Overall I know travis and I have well over 50k though ours and they work great, the only thing I recommend is send the gun back and have the performance center sear put in. Then send it to Boresight Solution and have Ben do his magical grip work

The 1911 is a NighHawk 45 Predator upper on an Enforcer lower, I would of ran mine more but as you remember I almost died BP 87/50. I have over 4,000 through mine with no problems other than I can't stop shooting it. I oiled my gun up before I left for CA and didn't have an opportunity to do it while training, I ran about 1,200 of win-clean through it a week ago and not one problem considering that ammo is horrible. That gun not only shoots well but it is a laser beam, you can't go wrong shooting ANY of their guns. Their customer service on average is a 2 day turn around if you have to send your gun back which is awesome. I also hear that there black diamond finish is the ticket for gun coatings.

Chris Costa & Travis Haley of Magpul Dynamics use Nighthawk Tactical Shotguns for all of their Shotgun Training Classes

whats the story on Chris' near death blood pressure drop?

He found out if he held that NHC 1911 close to his face, the Diamond Black coating was the only thing that could trim his beard and he got a little scared.

Seriously tho, I have absolutely no idea.

I think that there would be a market for a 1911 only training. For those who (like me) that like the platform and for those that are in those states that limit cap on handgun mags.

There have been 1911 specific classes out for awhile by various instructors

Chris got a new Nighthawk when he was in our class in Nov 09. He was running for the first time.

I know they were trying them out a little. If I remember correctly, CHris, Travis, and Mike had one that class.

Ahhhhh, the benefits of being a world renowned movie star. LOL

I was wondering if that's what you meant.

I spoke with Chris about this. For the most part, there is no need for a "1911 only" class. While there are obviously some manipulation differences from the 1911 to other designs, the fundamentals are the same. So, one need only go through a regular class, especially a Magpul one. The manipulations will come with the high repetitions through drills. Once you have the manipulation (basically the external safety) everything else is the same.

Same philosophy for an AK vs. AR class. You can run an AK through any of their carbine classes. While the manipulations are "more different" between AK and AR compared to 1911 and other, again, it boils down to efficiency, consistency, and reality.

when talking about pure shooting courses , there really isn't a need for a 1911, P220, P7, etc course. The differences in controls can easily be covered during the course. A 1911 only class pays off when the instructor goes into maintaince specific aspects of the 1911, troubleshooting of the 1911, which parts to use, etc.

Actually, there is a need for a P7 class. After about 40 rounds you need to set it down on an asbestos mat and let it cool off. Most classes suggest two guns and five mags, for a P7 class you need five guns and two mags.

I shot a SAO Sig and a STI 2011 in a Magpul class and I didn't have any issues with content or anything.
