I was at my local CIII today and was shooting the shit with him when I mentioned I was looking at getting a suppressor. I don't own one and I've been wanting to add one to the NFA collection for a while now.

He is an AAC dealer and showed me their latest "can porn" and told me what he liked and disliked about the different models. He's not your usual gunshop pole-smoker that just tries to sell shit and knows nothing. He knows his stuff and has steered me in the right direction before on other purchases before I really knew what the hell I was doing.

He initially was leaning me towards the M4-2000 and could get it to me for around $900. Then the more we talked he remembered he had a M4-1000 and he would let it go to me for about $550. Both of these cans included the mount from AAC with the can so that saves some money. The prices doesn't include the $200 for the stamp.

Are these good prices for good cans or should I be looking elsewhere and see if he would match if I find lower?

Anyone recommend a different can in the same price point?

I don't care if you don't like AAC as a company and this is not the thread for that, so take that shit to the GD. I haven't agreed with them all the time but I like what I see in their offering and price point. Help me out here.

Pretty good price with the mount since the prices went up and the mount is like $100.

+ 1 and if you have the extra money get the m4-2000.

Good price on both, including mounts.

M4-2000 - a little smaller, a little lighter, a little quieter.

if you have the money, go for it, if not the M4-1000 is a good performer and more durable than anything else in that class.

I would seriously consider looking at the stuff from Gemtech. I was very pleased with a few of the 5.56 cans that I fondled at SHOT.

Any particular models you recommend? I'm just now learning about suppressors so my knowledge base is minimal.

There were two that I handled and I believe that they were titanium. Let see if I can remember. Got that CRS stuff happening.

FWIW, titanium is not a great material for a semi or full auto rifle can. The high heat affects its strength at a lower point than steels. On a bolt gun, it's great to keep down weight.

Looking at the site, I believe that one was the G5 and the other was the Piranha.

Yeah they updated their lines with Titanium cans, I was very pleased with the Gem-tech Booth...
