Soul Searching.....Here we go

Alright guys...for the past week I've been searching my soul thinking about what to carry for CCW. First i was wanting to carry a shoulder rig with a G22. Then it was a 1911 in a shoulder rig.

Heres what I have landed on...I'd just like some feedback. I'm going with a compact XD .40 and it will ride in a Crossbreed Supertuck. Your thoughts please.

I would honestly do some more forum searching now instead of soul searching. Do a search for XD's, you will find they are not very favored. I personally had one for a very short time and got rid of it for a Glock. If you're looking for a polymer type pistol, look at either a Glock or M&P. The M&P's are becoming more favored, because they're seen as an "improved" Glock. I personally do not own one, but I have carried a G19 for a while, which has changed because the department only approves Sigs for me.

As for 1911's, I'd say it's a better choice than the XD, but with that comes a little more training in the sense you have the safety you need to consciously deactivate in order to fire the weapon.

The G19 is a superior blend of shootability, capacity, size, reliability, ubiquity and ease of customization that makes it a leader in the CCW class.

Is it perfect? No, of course not. But it ticks just a few more boxes (for example size) that the M&P doesn't, without going to a compact model.

I think you will find that most people are going to prefer the G19, at least that's been my opinion of what I've seen.

Both XDs and Supertucks suck.

I've shot the XD and owned the Supertuck, so it's not like I haven't had some hands on time with both.

S&W M&P Glock, SIG, or HK for a pistol.

Holsters are a very personal thing, but I have to ask WHY are you considering a shoulder holster????? A more impractical rig I cannot concieve of.

I prefer all leather to kydex or leather/kydex hybrids.

I am not a big fan of holsters that ride on the belt outside the pants. I cannot conceal well enough with any I have tried.
