Does anybody have any advice on how to get the buffer tube off a Colt 6920? I've been working on the castle nut with a stock wrench for awhile now to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.what do you mean "to no avail"? it hasn't budged at all? i've never owned a Colt but i imagine their castle nuts are staked... it's going to take a good amount of torque to loosen it.

It's moved a tiny bit. I've been using a hammer on the wrench but wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do or not so I haven't really been using all my force. How do I unstake it?

Any ideas on how to achieve said force?

put a 2 or 3 foot pipe on the end of your wrench.

Any ideas on how to achieve said force?you can buy a lower receiver block or try to fashion one out of wood... then you can insert the lower into a vise. people break and bend those cheap stock wrenches all the time. spend a little more for an armorer's wrench. if you don't want to wait, it's your rifle. you can try any way you want to pry it off. i've read about guys using towels and a pipe wrench.

edit: FYI the spring and detent pin for the rear take down are under the receiver plate(the piece behind the castle nut). mind these so you don't lose them.

So I got my UBR installed finally. I'm not gonna lie it's pretty sweet. It has an excellent cheekweld especially for a nose to charging handle shooter such as myself. It's noticably heavier than my CTR but it counter balances my KAC m4 RAS quite nicely. I'd definatley recommend it to anyone considering purchasing one.
