I just saw a thread where this came up recently but I can't find it for the life of me now. I was trying to see if anyone knew of an approximate S/N range where the 6920's and 6940's switched to the .155 pins.

Thanks,
Jason

IIRC no 6940s were sold with big pins.

Colt's SNs have been all over the place over the years, so there may be no easy cutoff. In terms of dates I leaned about the switch at SHOT 2009, and the information I had at that time was that any guns made in 2009 and forward would have small pins.

That does not mean that there aren't 2008 guns that have the small pins as well, just that anything after 090101 was certain to.

Which of course doesn't help if a dealer over-priced something and sat on it for two years.

That's the issue I'm concerned with.

I believe I may have been the OP of the thread you are looking for. One reply stated he believed the SN change over started around the 50,000 mark. Another reply stated he confirmed a 6920 with a SN 48XXX that had the small pins. I don't know if this helps but those were the replies I originally got.

Thanks! I can't eyeball the difference so I plan on taking a pin of each size with me when I go to look at the guns.
