I was looking at IWD the other day and they are making wood ar stocks sets. They look very nice. Guess you can dress up the plain girl into a beauty queen. Maybe someday down the road I'll try this just for shits and grins.

hmmm, looks interesting. I think I've still got an old service rifle that would look fine like that...

I'm sorry to say this but I think it looks awful in wood. Just my oppinion, so I don't need my flame suit.:)

You could make a nice target rifle.

I like the idea of the FAL parts... Hope they get some more pics up of the FAL stuff soon...

I'm not too crazy about the wood look also.

IMHO, thumbs down. I mean, if it's your thing go right ahead. Whats next, a wooden G17?

The wood stocked AR is nothing new. I remember them in gun rags back in the early 80s. Variety is the spice of life. I love a good steak but would not want to eat one for every meal. Don't forget there are those that say an AR in anything other than black is heresy.

I would love an AR with Ironwood Designs furniture. I think an A1 with a Teflon or similar finish and nice wood furniture would look outstanding.

Agreed. IMHO the only post Korean War era ERB/MBR that can pull off wood furniture is the FN FAL......

Although it looks odd on a modern tactical rifle, polished walnut is certainly a lot prettier than injection molded nylon.

My dad is always whining about how his AR has no "soul" I think this would fix that

Not for me though.

Retro sheek, but it just doesn't seem to have the same appeal in wood as this does:

Nice AK. Great background. Love how you actually used the old school telegreika under the rifle. But unless I'm mistaken, isn't that mag pouch Hungarian?

What about the M14, BM59 or even the G3? they all look good with wood stocks

On the AR though...not so much

i'm not really into "pretty guns," and generally don't appreciate them when i see them... but this is a beautiful gun.

Never been a fan of AR wood furniture, but with the A1 hand guards...looks pretty cool.

I definitely think the AR looks...funny...in wood furniture, but this rifle actually looks fantastic IMO:

http://www.nssf.org/2010SHOT/images/custom-AR.jpg

It's currently on GB as a charity auction (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=154559039). I can dig wood on a "collector" piece, but not sure why anyone would want wood on a "shooter" AR.

I can see wood furniture on a Garand, M14/M1A, and the FN FAL. Not the AR10 or M16/AR15/M4 family.

Putting wood on an AR-15 is like putting wood on a car.

What is with all the wood hate? I would never put the wood on my duty or serious social work gun but an heirloom, target, or for-fun gun would look nice. I mean, the L1A1 (Australian and New Zealand at least) wears wood, and is a serious fighting gun, and looks good.

These AR wood pieces look nice as target or specialty pieces.

I think too many associate it with "old school" and somehow less than tactical. Maybe a little too fuddy duddy. Another thing is, you can't hang very many bells and whistles on wood handguards.

in case it hasn't been mentioned... several very respected EBRs have wood furniture- not least of all, the AK family of weapons.

you're just hatin' 'cause it's an AR.

I stand corrected! I musta had FAL on my brain that day..... A BM 59 would be super sweet!
